Golden State Overnight Wine Delivery From California $18.00

I just got off the phone with my Personal Rep from JJ Buckley Alex Lallos. He is great by the way. I have requested delivery of some of my 05 Bordeaux Futures that have come in since my 25 case delivery in November. He advised me that he now uses Golden State Overnight… It only costs $18 PER CASE and arrives in one day. The $18 dollars per case is for one wine or 15 in the box. They ship to CA, AZ, Oregon, Nevada and a few more States.
Has anyone ever used them? I am giving them a try. What a great and novel concept? Overnight delivery in States close to California for $18.00 a shipping box. Why can’t Wineries use these guys to ship instead of the rip off artists we all so despise.
I don’t know if they ship to Tejas yet, but a group of you guys could look into requesting it. [gheyfight.gif]

Thanks for the heads up…I would gladly pay double that for an entire case.

The few times I have received shipments from them, they have been very responsive to requests to hold packages and even deliver within a specified window of time during a particular day. Being small has its advantages in terms of customer service.

I have also had good success with them, although I don’t get much occasion to use them. $18 a case is insane, though - love it! I just paid flippin’ $48 for a case of Soave Classico from MA to CA, via UPS ground!

My Sojourn just came via GSO, great service!

A#1. Several of us were singing their praises in Cellar rats a couple of weeks ago. K&L has an option to use them, and they are always super prompt. They also deliver our paychecks here. [d_sunny.gif]

We use GSO for some of our shipments in and around California. Generally our UPS rates have been lower on everything but overnight to those locations GSO services and sometimes GSO is higher. Their service has been improving over the last three years. It used to be somebody would show up in their personal vehicle to pick up the packages. Now they have regular delivery and pick-up trucks. So far, every package we have shipped with GSO has arrived on time and intact.

SQN is using them to ship. Enough said.

Copain uses them as well. Very good service every time.

i buy extra from every winery that uses GSO. They are fast and efficient, they deliver early in the morning. Win all around!

KL Wines uses them aside from the usual suspects. Since my freight forwarder is also in Ca, I’ve been opting for GSO for the past year or so whenever ordering from KL. Never had any problems with GSO and they are cheaper as well.

Why was this moved to Asylum?
if ever a timely wine thread, this is one.

KL huh?

Agreed - I think it belongs in WT also. I’ll move it.

We are using GSO for most CA and SW regions now, but as Randy pointed out the rates are sometimes lower, sometimes higher than UPS.

By the way, it costs just under $18 a case to ship UPS within CA. And from Paso to southern CA is one-day transit.

Even with price being equal, GSO always delivers earlier - usually MUCH earlier than FedEx/UPS - so I’m less worried about temp issues, especially in the 'tweener times when it might get into the low 80’s in the afternoon.

In addition, I think the use of GSO by a winery - even if it’s just an extra option - shows commitment to customer service and genuine effort by the winery to cut shipping costs. My dollar will always go there long before a winery who insists on using a logistics company for their own convenience, at the expense of the customer.
