Germany's Best Dry Rieslings

That list looks better -Feinschmecker had very fine taste that year (if only because we made it in at #6 [cheers.gif] )

My list would still look quite a bit different. I thought that the 2010 Christmann Biengarten was among the most electrifying wines of the vintage. Rebholz also did exceptionally well.

Cheers,
Bill

yeah, the label… I was telling the buyer from Sherry Lehmann about the estate, and his comment was: do they still have the hood-ornament from the Reichstag on the label?

I like it. It doesn’t suffer fools gladly. What other wineries do you represent?

from Germany:
Schmitt’s Kinder in Randersacker
Andreas Schmitges in Erden
and the Winzergenossenschaft Königschaffhausen down in Endingen on the Kaiserstuhl

most of the Winemonger Imports portfolio is Austrian,
with special attention to the emerging red wines of Burgenland:
Moric, Umathum, Rosi Schuster…

Nice to see a Franken on the list and I’m a big fan of the Umathum Haideboden.

even though we know the region’s typically about something otherthan,
what attracted me to Schmitt’s Kinder was their excellent dry Rieslings—
Randersackerer Marsberg, Randersackerer Pfülben—
grown in those grand limestone amphitheatres rising above the Main…

Haideboden somewhat of a minority now in a wine-culture headed decidely in the monovarietal direction…

There are certainly some amazing and inspiring Sankt Laurent and Blaufränkisch single-varietal wines out there (in fact those grapes are two of my very favorite reds), but the Haidenboden is just as complete and much more elegant than most of the French and Italian red-cuvees. pileon

I agree that the Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle GG in most vintages is a world class white wine. However in tiny Nahe Dönnhoff is behind both Shäfer Fröhlich and Schönleber, at least when comparing their GG´s.
And as the absolute top GG´s in recent years come from producers in Nahe and Rheinhessen i agree with Martin: the list is a joke
