German Spatburgunder Master Thread

Had a tough day. Needed something nice, so I didn’t wait long. It is indeed a beauty :slightly_smiling_face:

Getting my Spätburgunders ready for the trip back home. Thanks @Mikael_OB and @LasseK for pointing me to the right retailer. :wine_glass:

Amazing! Where is home? I saw cool climate just got their 2021s in.

I haven’t heard about Cool Climate before, are they a US retailer? I live in Miami Beach.

Cool Climate is German. The U.S. is sold out with the exception of California which gets their allocation later because it is a different distributor than the other 49 states.

It sure is. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my 21s, and I got far less than I was hoping to.

Has anyone tried the SHELTER WINERY Spatburgunders?

I tasted them in Germany at the Vom Boden 10 year anniversary and commented earlier in the thread:

I have never really focused on the Shelter Wines, for no reason, other than it happens. I really liked the wines. I would put them in the slightly rustic camp, similar to the J Walter wines with a bit more fruit. The wines are under $30 in the U.S. which is an excellent value. Also, these are all grown on limestone.

Is that a 2021 Lassak Spätburgunder I spot? I honestly prefer it to the 2021 Spätburgunder from Wasenhaus (which is still a nice wine!).

The Wasenhaus 21’s need a bit of air now to get going.

I initially read this as the 2021 LasseK Spätburgunder and was gonna be all up in your grill about your switch to winemaking!

Robert, since you like J Dilla you might find this worth listening to - first out of five episodes with previously never released material (interview-wise) produced by one of the best music journalist out there:

If you can endure the shorter bits in Swedish, addition observations, but much comes through in the interviews fortunately.

A warning thought, you are likely to be drown in to rest of the archive… 40 years and still going strong, Prince is probably one of few he never got around interviewing.

Thanks! This is incredible! Listening now.

Glad you like it.

Beats worth dying for… dad behind the classic “it’s a shame”. Can’t wait for the next episode(s).

Chuck D (in 1999) had this to say about Mats’ interviews: “as we move further into the 21st century, I’m sure that your interviews will be as important as the individual recordings”

Indeed. I got 2 of those, took 1 home, and gifted the other to my brother. If I was EU-based I would have certainly gone for a case.

We are talking about just one bottle on Winebid with two overly enthusiastic bidders.
