I’m new to this site and wanted to see if I can get recommendations and overall details on the George III vineyard. I have recently tasted some cabs from that vineyard and was blown away. It also seems like the pricing point on George III is slightly lower than the other Beckstoffer vineyards. Does anyone know why this would be? Also, what are your favorite wine makers that source grapes from this vineyard. Thank you all for the help!
Welcome… I am sure others will chip in, however here is my sneaky take… Cornerstone Rutherford, it is $120/bottle and they don’t write George III on the label, hence they don’t charge the current $200? per bottle. However it is from George III Is this the best from George III, hell no. But for the price it is pretty amazing remembering where the grapes are sourced from, I could be wrong but I believe they source it from the UC Davis lot, I know they do for the Oakville To Kalon block.
Great to know. Thank you! I’m going to grab some of the Cornerstone Rutherford.
Jean Edwards Rutherford Cab is from GIII.
Also not on the label
I’ll throw Sojourn out there. I’m on their list and see their GIII cab offered but I don’t buy it. I think it goes for about $150. Also IIRC, Waypoint sources from GIII.
It’s Georges III and perhaps this will help:

Re pricing i believe it’s a very large vineyard, the largest of the top beckstoffer sites though i could be mistaken
Salt Vine
primarily from G III and very tasty
The 2016 is flat out fantastic
I ordered the 2020 Sojourn George III and cant’ wait to try it. I’ll probably wait at least a year or so before opening up that one. Thank you for the other two recommendations. I’ll take a look at those
I will try to find some of this! I love all the recommendations from the wine makers that source the grapes from G III but don’t advertise it. Price is much better!
I’ve had the 2017 and 2018. Both were great, slight advantage to the 2018 but I also didn’t try them side by side.
To @StuartH In general, Def look for Jean Edwards Cellars “Rutherford” bottling.
Vice Versa G3 is fantastic but pretty pricey as 275 for the 21s.
Jean Edwards.
This is the way.
I tasted the 2019 recently and it made my socks roll up and down. Great wine.
I just ordered some of the Jean Edwards G3 along with their Stagecoach Vineyard and the Yates Vineyard Cab. I can’t wait to try it! This has been an extremely helpful site for me. Thanks for all of the help!
Ordered some today. Can’t wait for it to come in and try a new one for me!
Just a quick note regarding GIII. It is a large vineyard and it isn’t all created equal. The north side of the vineyard abutting the Caymus winery produces excellent fruit. The southern side isn’t as desirable.
Myriad produces are special bottling from a parcel in the middle of the north side on an old river bed that has particularly good drainage. I love the wines from this area.
I have tried the 2011 Myriad George III on Christmas Day last year and it was a special bottle. That is the one that got me hooked on this vineyard. It was just incredible!
It’s funny they say on their website they can’t name the vineyard it’s from, but in the shop it’s listed as “G3”
