Games (ipad or phone) for Planes (long flights)

Anyone have some suggestions for adult level games to pass the time on long flights? Can be single or 2 player games. Just looking for time wasters when I can’t sleep and I’m tired of movies/podcasts. I’m not a gamer, nor do I currently have any games on my devices, so don’t assume I know anything about the subject.

Edit to add: Must be able to run without internet connection.

NYT Games app is great on the ipad. Believe it comes free with a digital NYT subscription, which I don’t believe costs much.

Game Pigeon. multiplayer interactive games. Free. All parties need to have it

Bigger question, what games you can play that don’t require internet?

I bought a Nintendo Switch for a two week euro trip and love it. The caveat being I’m the epitome of a 90’s kid and grew up on Nintendo 64 and Game Boy games.

Netflix has games. I play civ6 without internet.

Balatro. Incredibly addicting, and brilliantly designed. Have used it to burn through several flights.

I was going to say Balatro too. It takes a bit to get your head around and then once hooked, it’s so much fun, with endless replayability and enormous satisfaction.

I play Bloons Tower defense 6 via the Netflix option on my iPad. There are a lot of games available through Netflix.

This and plants vs zombies are great tower defense type games

Depending on the aircraft, there may be a selection of games, movies etc. provided with a screen in the headrest of the seat in front.

Personally I edged away from in-flight entertainment for long flights, in favour of keeping my eyes closed and either trying to mentally switch off / sleep, or at most listen to some music. I generally felt a fair bit better at the other end of the journey when I made that shift.

Appreciate all the suggestions. Again, I’m not and have never been a gamer, so I wasn’t looking for action type games, just something relatively enjoyable/simple to pass the time in between nodding off. @MChang - I checked out 2048 and it is in the vein of what I’m seeking. Will look at Balatro and Game Pigeon.

Not a big deal overall. I typically read while I’m awake, but thought I might find some games to pass 30 minutes here and there. Thank you!

Another + for balatro !

Fourth for Balatro. I basically don’t play games, I grabbed it on a whim, and I got hooked on it.

You should be able to get a free 3 month trial of Apple Arcade. (Balatro+ is on there). Can try out a bunch of stuff for free that way to see what interests you.
