Fun CT tasting note posted today...

Tasting note for a 2006 Eric Kent Windsor Oaks Pinot Noir from CT today.

“Opened when Pam and Harry came over for lunch on New Year’s Day - but drunk the next day prior to the Cabernet on Steak night with Lee and Lisa. - Tasted 1/1/2010”

not trying to be mean or harsh. With the recent threads on CT notes, thought this would be fun to share.

That’s really a very valuable note. Now I know that this wine goes better with Lee and Lisa than it does with Pam and Harry. [welldone.gif]

Pairing is key - I use CT for it all the time.

Oh sigh, “eastover”. You know when I did my architectural overhaul in September I specifically grew the private consumption notes to 512 characters from 255 SPECIFICALLY so that I could at some point write a script and take every single public tasting note from the person and make it a private consumption. I did a specific analysis of their notes to make sure they would all fit. I still need to write the script…

This person is hilarious!

2005 Fattoria Alois Caiati Caiati Terre del Volturno IGT
Opened after the Kistler was finished by Jill and Pam. Started and continued drinking the next day.

2005 Papapietro Perry Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
On New Year’s Day with Pam and Harry over for a little lunch. Very nice.

2005 Kistler Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard
On New Year’s Day with Pam and Harry over for a little lunch. Very nice.

But this one is my favorite!

2004 Hiedler Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein
Tuesday night - vacation week - Lee, Gary and Dean over for dessert and dominos. A good time was had by all. JRV participated too - > and drank this wine.

Well, I think the best pairing so far would be with Jill and Pam. Doesn’t really matter what the wine is now does it…

Mine is this:

2006 Mollydooker Shiraz Velvet Glove
Saturday. Jill and Pam and Lee and Harry were all here tonight. We didn’t know this wine had so much juice in it. After six bottles, we were all blotto and ended up in the master bedroom together. (Lordy, lordy!) Dessert was unfortunately skipped, as was dominos.

I had to look - thank god you made that one up…

Sounds like this person uses CT more as a diary of memories with old friends, versus typing “pencil shaving, blueberries, acid level this, tannins that, age for 7-10 years, etc.” (nothing wrong with that… that’s what I do, too).
But that is one of the best things about wine, sharing with your friends and creating memories. [welldone.gif]

Think of how fun the discussions of tasting notes will be on the “new” CT!

Different author, but this one might take the cake: 2000 Opus One (USA, California, Napa Valley)
Tasted by Alan Partridge on 1/5/2010 & rated 79 points: I had such expectations for this wine. California’s finest??? The great and the good of the sunshine state? What the HD! If I pissed blood from a catheter it would taste better than this sorry excuse for a wine. I could have crashed headlong thorugh the vineyard dragging a rabid cat and expected a better outcome. Do you realise that I split up from my wife? dO YOU?? aND i CHOSE THIS WINE TO CELEBRATE THE EVENT. And what did i get??? A sorry whiny, nagging excuse of a wine. JUST LIKE MY WIFE!!! Tasting like a slag heap, sour, bat-faced harridan. She got the 1959 Latour and I got you!! Is this what the alimony is going to be like??? I HATE YOU!!! YOU RUINED MY LIFE!!! (80 views)

This is funny!

2003 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley)

This is Hollywood baby!! Beverley hills, high rollers, exclusive know what I mean? I really felt like I dunno, that I had, well… kind of made it when I got a bottle of this. Showed Marcello…man!! the boy was stunned, still can’t see outta that left eye though! Thought Gina was going to have kittens!! she loved a bit of the red stuff dude! Mesmerised…totally freaked out. It felt like the time when I saw Paris Hilton or was it Texas I can never remember. Bottlers like this don’t come around everyday. Just a pity it was corked and tasted like shoe polish…ahh well can’t win em all. Still great wine LOVED IT BABY YEAHHHH

Wow! Too funny!!!

Then you’ll like my new note which is more about the pairing than the wine!

I love this note. Someone needs to tell Partridge that the Sunshine State is FLORIDA, not Ca. [oops.gif]

Second, he picked probably the worst (or second worst after 98) vintage of Opus One to celebrate throwing is wife’s ass out on the street (or vice versa)… very funny note, thanks for the laugh. I will never view Opus One the same way again.

I hate these notes. This is not the first I’ve seen. [truce.gif]

Methinks ‘Alan Partridge’ may be punking you. Joined CT yesterday, ZERO bottles in inventory, posts 5 notes, and is already the talk of the internet?

who cares, as long as he keeps writing funny notes like that its all good IMO
