Full Pull

The “W. T. Vintners Syrah Boushey Vineyard” listings in CT are the Birdhouse Block, confirmed by the OB93 for the’19 vintage, pulled off Vinous.

Thanks Micheal, that seems to match on a number of fronts, and the vineyard is pretty obvious. I have 14 bottles of 16/17 WT wines all that came from Full Pull, including the 17 WT Grand Cote, which is a Boushey block wine, and Redacted 32 was 2016 WT Boushey blend. Since they also make a birdhouse block Boushey Syrah, this clue matches. No way there is another match.

We have never previously offered this exact bottling before today, but we have offered other bottlings of this winemaker working with this vineyard.

Might it be this? Forgeron Cellars - 2019 Anvil by Forgeron Syrah, Birdhouse Block, Boushey Vineyard, Yakima Valley

The “96 points” looks like it may come from the Seattle Wine Awards - see this page: Accolades | Forgeron Cellars

Full Pull already sold the 2019 Forgeron Anvil Birdhouse block. I know because I bought that one in 2023. Not sure if it was redacted, but maybe.

ETA, looking at tasting notes, yes that one was a redacted wine at $32.

The FP offer indicates that much of the info about the two wines is the same – including listed alc. The offer indicates the 2018 as listed alcohol of 13.7% (so 2019 would be the same). According to the Forgeron tech sheet below, the listed alcohol on the 2019 is 14.6% (and, per the WE review page for the 2018, the Forgeron was 14.8%).

So, in order for these to be the Forgeron Syrahs, the info in the FP offer would need to be incorrect. In my experience, that is rarely the case. However, I do suppose it’s possible…

128 looks like it could be 2020 Reininger Malbec Walla Walla based on the info in this blog post

Qq: as I wait for the detective work on 129, anyone have recommendations for similar models to Full Pull, particularly the redacted series, for other markets?

Quickly getting to the point where I’ll have enough WA wine for the next decade and interested in diversifying and having also found FP useful to learn more about WA wine, wouldn’t mind expanding my horizons to new geographies

Have heard good things here about De Negoce but never pulled the trigger

Does de negoce or that new spinoff negciant company share the actual labels/producer info, etc?

I was thinking about this the other day, that I much prefer the redacted model vs the white label model as it does build knowledge and re-usable data about producers that can inform future buying decisions.

(I have no other answer to your question other than perhaps garagiste who does similar mystery wines today a cheap rioja)

This is my guess for Redacted 129. 2019 Fidelitas Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain, USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain - CellarTracker Fidelitas Red Mountain Cab Sauv. The listing includes vineyards listed in one of the tasting notes, and pricing matches. I actually drank a bottle of this wine a couple of months ago, bought at my local grocer to compare to dN red mountain Cabs, and though I did not write a tasting note, it was/is a very solid “typical” Fidelitas Cab, big fruit, and supported by big oak, but well integrated. This blend has always seemed like “second string” in Fidelitas line-up. Solid, but not on par with the single vineyard wines, but a step above m100.

As to other similar sources of redacted wines, I can recommend de Negoce for Napa Cab, though some of the recent releases, 500+ are not as “big” as the 200-300 wines. Big hope for 2023 vintage releases which should be coming soon. Similarly, The Negociant, is a brand new Cam Hughes company that will be selling same model of bulk wines repackaged for the on-line market. Not sure when the first release will be, but chatter on this forum is anticipating. For wines that compete on price with label intact, Last Bottle and Wine 'till Sold Out are worth looking at, imo.

Like you, I have way too much wine, of all types, sources, and mostly Washington. $25 for Fidelitas RM Cab is a solid buy though, imo.

Darn you, CC! I was “out” until your excellent work. I tend to like Fidelitas reds now and then, sometimes a lot, so I found this email in my trash and bought a few. Thanks.

Redacted 130 is likely 2022 Brooke and Bull Malbec. 2022 Brook & Bull Malbec, USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley - CellarTracker

The winery website doesn’t list his one, nor any newer vintage of a ~$40 Malbec. CT lists the 2022 at $70 which I think is an error. Prior vintages are all in $40 range.

I had bought one of the prior B&B redacted wines and FP used almost the exact same language in describing the wine maker. I enjoyed The Silent Ode, and likely this is a good malbec, particularly at $15.

I basically play in the FP pool for WA/OR redacted and Garagiste for IT, FR, and Sparkling mystery. I generally avoid the Garagiste CA mystery but have found WA and OR mysteries to be fine when under $20 and looking for in-law wines.

Opps, made a guess without enough research, sorry about that.

Are you sure? The writeup cites less than 200 case production but Tendril says they made 230 cases of the '18 Extrovert. Writeup cites 13.9% ABV but this review says the '18 Extrovert came in at 14.1% ABV.

Based on the writeup language, I think R131 is the '18 Et Fille Gabriella - the next vintage of R119.

Tom’s correct, the Vinous review/score/window quoted matches from Josh Raynolds.

2018 Et Fille Pinot Noir Gabriella Deux Vert.

Opps, thanks for the correction. I’ll remove my incorrect wild guess.

Thanks! Would love to hear notes from anyone who went for R119 or is otherwise familiar with the Et Fille Gabriella.

R132 Is Willamette valley vineyards W.V Pinot
R133 Is Brick House I think.

I think he’s right for 133. The WS review matches for both score and drinking window. And on the Brick House website, the retail price matches, the alcohol % matches, as well as the description about destemming and oak treatment. Also, google confirms 1990 as the first year vines were planted on the property. I couldn’t see anything that didn’t line up. There’s still a chance it’s not right, but seems to be a pretty solid match.

R132 is Illahe 2022 Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir. Their winery/estate vineyard are located in the fairly new Mt Pisgah, Polk County, Oregon AVA (sub Willamette AVA). They first planted grapes in 1983 and they have a $85 pinot on their website. The tech sheet also matches for 25% whole cluster and 10% new french oak. The tech sheet says 14%, but websites selling this wine all say 13.5%.

Illahe 2022 Willamette Pinot Noir

The liquidation sale that Full Pull references was the Cru Selections auction a few months back. They obviously bought some of the larger lots and have been offering them recently in non-redacted form. Both Illahe and Brick House had multiple lots at the auction so R133 matches up as well.
