Purchased about 8 years ago from a store here in NYC that has famously pristine stock purchased by the owner on release (can provide details for serious buyers offline). This was removed directly from their cellar and put into mine, it was never on the floor.
If there’s a perceived price premium, it’s based on this perfect provenance, with remarkable condition and fill.
Hopefully someone has a need for a 50th bday coming up in a few months.
I’ve had this wine from 750 and magnum several times (all from this source), and the wine is ethereal and as classic as it gets for old-style Napa Cabernet. In a word, this is a special wine.
