One of the great things about retirement - when you feel like a glass or two of wine, it really doesn’t matter what time it is ;^)
I have a slight preference for the Villero right now, but both wines are drinking well.

2007 Fratelli Brovia Barolo Garblèt Sué - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/2/2023)
This is also quite nice - I just had a glass of the '07 Villero, and this shows different but also has it's own pluses. For one, it's showing more red fruit on the nose, which happens to be a personal preference of mine. Less elegant on the palate, and I generally find the Garblet Sue' to be the most rustic wine of the Brovia single vineyard releases. There is also a tiny bit of unresolved tannin on the finish that slightly detracts, but this is a very nice wine all in. -
2007 Fratelli Brovia Barolo Villero - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/2/2023)
This is nice - and thank goodness for some vintage variation in Barolo, because I don't think I would have been motivated to pull this cork if it had been a 2006.
Ripe black & red fruit and some tar on the nose, light- to medium-bodied on the palate with good acidity. At 15+ years of age, this is drinking well. And even though it's from a warmer vintage, it's nicely balanced at this point and I think it's possible for it to improve with some additional time in the bottle - although, even if it doesn't, no real loss, as what it is right now is quite good.
