Does anybody have experience with Ford Fry restaurants?
Any recommendations on which ones are good?
St. Cecilia and Marcel are probably the top 3 of the group in Atlanta, although I’d say the service at Marcel is probably the more noteworthy aspect of Marcel. I’ve always enjoyed The Optimist as well, but that’s probably in the next tier down. Pretty well curated wine program given the Beverage Directors wife owns a distributor with a pretty good book. No. 246 is pretty solid Italian.
Absolutely CANNOT go wrong with St. Cecelia. In fairness, I think you probably can’t go wrong with any of his joints, but for my money, St. Cecelia is tops. That said, No. 246 is blow your mind good. It’s a little more “hidden gem” feeling than say St. Cecelia, but that’s largely a location driven vibe: Buckhead vs downtown Decatur. Just depends on what part of town you would prefer.
We have hosted two dinners in the St Cecilia private room. Excellent location, super private and large and very accommodating, but seems to fly under the radar in the community.
Marcel is the usual spot and you can do 8 in the group table in the back, but it’s not private. Food is very good; old school steakhouse fare obviously. Nothing particularly memorable, but very good.
The best part is their corporate wine service director is a great guy and he sets everything up for us. We met him when he was the somm at Marcel. So if you want to do anything special, we can connect you.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
