For Buyers NEW to BerserkerDay - help is here! (How-to video and guide)

I’m creating a ‘how-to’ thread for buyers new to BerserkerDay, so you don’t show up and get lost!

First, if you prefer video, here’s a 7-minute tutorial:

If you prefer to read/view the tutorial, you can find that below:

HOW IT WORKS:

Starting around 7:30am Pacific/10:30am Eastern, BerserkerDay 16 will open. I have around 100 sellers this year (plus additional offers only for those in Monopole Crü that are limited in quantity, the biggest and most we’ve ever had!) and will be launching in groups of 10 sellers every 30 minutes. You will not know which 10 will launch at any given time, which is part of what makes the craziness!

Each thread in this BerserkerDay 16 forum will be an offer from a seller (or offers, but all in the same thread/post). Click the thread that interests you, read the offer, see the photos, explore the website links embedded therein, and place your orders directly with the sellers, the authors of the thread itself.

Here’s a screenshot of last year’s BerserkerDay event, how the threads/offers will look on the page:

For a next level experience, be sure you are registered (and approved - take note of the real names policy) well before the event starts and post within the thread, ask the seller/winemaker questions, engage with them in a way you rarely have the opportunity to do so. This is something UNIQUE to BerserkerDay! Registered, logged on members also can send private messages to the seller, using the ‘message’ function that shows when you click their username:

Note that private messages on the day itself may or may not get read by the user, as it can be madness, and, if all goes well, the orders will be flowing in so fast they will not have time to read them!

This forum software will auto-refresh constantly - you will not have to refresh your browser to see the new offers - they will automatically appear, and all replies within a thread/offer will automatically appear as well. You will see the following (x new or updated topics), just click it and all the new or bumped threads/offers will appear:

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE/BUY FROM THE SELLERS?

Anyone with a link to the BerserkerDay 16 forum will have access to the offers, can read them and purchase from them. If you want to post within the offer thread itself, you will need to be registered and logged in. You don’t have to be logged in or registered to read the threads and click the links within the offer threads.

HOT TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE EVENT:

Desktop browser are MUCH preferable over mobile - the offers and the feed of new offers throughout the day are optimized for a larger screen. You can certainly use/view/order on mobile, but the experience is much better via desktop/laptop on a regular browser

Bookmark the BerserkerDay 16 forum now so you are ready on BerserkerDay!

Plan Ahead! Though you won’t know exactly what offers will drop, so you can’t really ‘schedule’ your day, planning ahead can simply, and effectively, be just to have the BerserkerDay 16 forum up on your browser, in a dedicated tab, all day! It’s madness, and it’s incredibly fun, trust me!

Join one of the paid groups - Grand Cru Crü or Monopole Crü - so you do not see ads on the rest of the site (do look around! Ads don’t show on the BerserkerDay 16 forum but do on the rest of the site, but not for those in the paid groups) AND you have access to Preview Day (January 30), which has Early Purchase Offers! Some of these offers sell out on Preview Day, so it’s often worth the effort to find deals you may only be able to get on Preview Day. All those in Grand Cru Crü and Monopole Crü will receive notification that Preview Day is on, and all offers eligible to purchase will be on a private forum they have access to.

Read the BerserkerDay 16 Master Thread for more details, history, background, and updates on the event.

Lastly, if you want to see how last year’s BerserkerDay went (BerserkerDay 15), read some of the old threads/offers, here’s the link: BerserkerDay 15 (January 26, 2024) - WineBerserkers

Great stuff, Todd. The video should be very useful for B-Day newcomers.
From years of experience, I’d suggest:

  1. Don’t be intimidated. Lots of offers, but they’re all pretty self-explanatory. Peruse and comb through them, or impulsively dive in…it’s a “choose your own adventure” situation. All the individual threads are pretty self-explanatory, and every offer will be different.
  2. Absolutely recommend signing up for Grand Cru Crü or Monopole Crü. The preview opportunity alone is a huge perk, to say nothing of the advance-purchase opportunities.
  3. Make sure to register for the site (and pay for membership), if desired, a few days in advance. Don’t wait until the last minute.
  4. You absolutely can do B-Day on a mobile device. I’ve done it several times. Not the optimal experience, as you mentioned, but don’t let lack of desktop access deter you.
  5. Make sure your personal info, including billing and shipping addresses and credit card info, are in auto-fill, Google Pay, etc. Makes purchases super fast in many cases. Also have your credit card info on hand in case auto-fill modalities don’t work with the producer’s commerce platform.
  6. Take time to peruse last year’s B-Day forum to get a feel for how it looks and works. This will be really helpful in familiarizing yourself.
  7. “Sticking to my budget” is not a thing on Berserker Day.

Another BD Veteran tip:

  • Shipping. Make sure when you review a winery offer that you understand a) if they can ship to your state/country, and b) cost for shipping to your home/business. Some offers include shipping or a shipping discount, and all offers should indicate if they have states they do NOT ship to.

I want folks to be aware that the whole point is to offer deals without any ‘club’ or other sign in requirements. Just the typical check out procedure using a credit card or such for online orders. Many producers just ask you to email them and your order is time stamped based on the email sent time (we can get overwhelmed, and may not send you the credit card or Venmo (etc) invoice until the dust settles!)

But for sure, some of the limited supply offers can go quickly so if you have a favorite producer in mind it can’t hurt to be ready if they are using an online discount code or some such. As Todd mentioned in the OP many of these limited supply offers will only be offered to the Monopole Cru group, and/or to the combined Monopole and Grand Cru groups on preview day, Thursday. So sign up to these groups is encouraged! If you have questions about whether your favorite producer will be offering, just peruse the past 5 or 6 years of BD (click here) and you can get a pretty good sense of who is asked back to participate every year : )

Also check your ship to address, I had a Tercero order last year that almost went to an old office of mine

How do you know if the lots are sold out? I went onto one site and it put the wine in my basket, but the transaction wouldn’t complete. I know it wasn’t my credit card. At that point should I directly contact the winery?

works on both, depends on your preference - I much prefer desktop! Just keep scrolling in the BerserkerDay 16 forum and you’ll see all the offers

It worked great on my tablet, too!

Sucked on my watch. I gave up!
