Does Tabot brand their corks with vintage date?
If so, any idea how long they have been doing so?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Frank D- not a very subtle hint over there!

Just send Leevee a PM…I am sure he knows the answer off the top of his head.

I recall seeing 2005s with a branding, but I ain’t no expert.
Bill, this was a very good suggestion. I sent Jeff a message, and he had some good info onthe subject. He also graciously offered to send a message to the folks at Talbot to try to get some further info for me. I wouldn’t have thought to reach out directly to Jeff- so thanks for suggesting it.
Glad that I could help…all BS aside, he seemed like the logical person to get the correct answer.

BTW this is what I posted over there. A pretty interesting site for Bordeaux collectors.
One big difference between “old” and “young” Talbot labels is that “MEDOC” got replaced by “SAINT JULIEN.”

PS if you strip the foil is there any chance you could read the cork THROUGH THE GLASS of the neck??
Once you pull the cork to read the date, wouldn’t the wine be drunk regardless of what it says?
And the wine is over 20 years regardless, right? I’d say it’s ready, even if it’s a 1961…

I thought we had to go through the Bordeaux Liason to get questions answered?
Now Dan, you should be nice and respect the fact that we have such a good resource to turn to in our time of need.
Only if you intend to validate a false sense of importance and access…
Now, now Scott. Mr. Leve has demonstrated time and time again his relevance and connection to the Bordeaux wine trade and the inner workings there in. I sense just a wee bit of jealously from my esteemed colleague from Chi-town.

Bill, you go from making fun of him, to seriously he’s a good resource, to now back to making fun of him???
Yes, particularly considering the party being poked at is a member
If you want this particular question form the OP to be answered, I think that JL would be at the top of the list regardless of any personal issues I, or anyone else has with him. As to my follow up post, yes, he does have a certain air of over importance about him that he displays to the world…that does not mean that his ability to help is diminished.
To Todd: If he were really a “member” here, then he would post without somebody calling him and telling him that people are talking about him. And lots of folks here routinely poke fun at lots of other members…
