✨ Fontaine Glassware // Launching BURGUNDY + CHAMPAGNE Glasses $47

Happy Berserker… er… VinDependece Day! :champagne:

So, this was originally going to go live Berserker Day 17, but…

Champers!

Launching BURGUNDY + WHITE/CHAMPAGNE Glasses

$47 for Hand-made European Titanium Crystal

The Full Collection*
*the Burgundy & Champagne designs are 95% complete and will look slightly different
**ie: the Burgundy glass on the far left will have a shorter stem

Designed in collaboration with internationally renowned wineries like Dujac and Vilmart in France to Occidental and Stony Hill in California, both glasses deliver exceptional proven performance.

We applied the same rigorous research and testing process that was used for our Universal shape to great results. I promise these are so much more than just pretty shapes - they treat wines with respect and amplify their best aromatic and gustatory qualities.

These (and a forthcoming fortified/dessert glass) complete the Fontaine wine glass collection.

I’m so proud and excited to share these luxurious European glasses with you.

The Resonance AKA the Burgundy glass

The Resonance

First off, this is so much more than just a Burgundy glass. It’s especially for Barolo. It’s for shy and reserved wines that need air to relax and blossom. It’s for big burly wines that need a lot of air to make tannins velvety and silky.

The Resonance glass makes those types of wines, for lack of a better description, “taste more expensive.” A bit simplistic I know, but those exact words were repeated by almost every glassware tester unprompted. Compared to the Universal glass that brings out youthful characteristics in both aromatics and grippier tannins, this glass highlights nuanced aromatics and delivers an exceptionally polished tannin experience.

The most notable difference to me is the palate experience. The textural quality, straight out of the bottle, zero decanting, no aerator, just pour and sip is astounding.

Specs:
- Hand-made in Europe
- 110mm width (Zalto is 124mm, for context)
- 19oz capacity
- Widest point is a 5oz pour
- 100 grams (tbd, but will be close)

August Prototype Update: The final glass will have a shorter stem and the bowl a bit taller.

The Precision AKA the White / Champagne glass

The Precision

This is a glass for still and sparkling white wines, especially those that lean towards more mineral and fresh fruit notes and less barrel influence. When you’re looking to concentrate, but not suffocate, the linearity and acidity of white wines.

The Precision glass proves that crisp wines should not be overlooked for any perceived lack of complexity. It’s a little hard to describe, but I would say this glass adds width and power to wines. There is enough space in the glass that aromatics can breathe, but not so much that their delicate notes are lost or muted. For sparkling wines, the perlage is lively with medium size bubbles that are refined but still textural, and last long after the pour.

Specs:
- Hand-made in Europe
- 90mm width
- 15oz capacity
- Widest point is a 5oz pour
- 90 grams (tbd, but will be close)

Two other products!

Spirits Glass

1. The Spirits Glass v2 - Our whisky glass got a mild elegant glowup. The stem is just a bit taller and the shape is slightly more similar now to the wine stems. The aromatic and tasting performance is as good as ever, but I think the aesthetics are slightly more refined. This glass will also be 20% off!

2. Wine Glass Travel Cases - They’re not for sale yet, but anyone who purchases the new glassware will receive a special discount. It’s modular, fairly compact, with premium materials, and is just freaking awesome.

Just wanted to give some further detail on the new glassware!

The Resonance

In testing we found that most every single Burgundy-style glass on the market was just too big. Aromatically, some had a flash of brilliance on immediate pour and then died quickly or took ages to faintly appear. And from a physical balance perspective they were extremely clunky.

The Resonance shape, while large, is much more reasonable as dictated by our testing. Compared to our Universal, it is about 26% larger in surface area at its widest point, but still 14mm/0.55 inches narrower than Zalto for context. The widest design tested during prototyping was indeed good for some wines, but the vast majority showed more vibrant fruit character in harmony with earth and savory tones in the slightly less wide shape we collectively decided on.

This final size and volume allows for both great first impressions and continued evolution over the enjoyment of a full glass.

The Precision

The first Universal prototype was the starting for this glass and has gone through a couple more iterations to become truly delightful. Opposite of the Resonance, we found that other champagne glasses were generally just a bit too narrow. They really punched you in the face with alcohol and carbonation. Aesthetically, it made sparkling wines look extremely fun and energetic, but the drinking experience was less than optimal.

The Precision shape is a little bit wider and the bottom taper is less angular than other glasses, which means the bubbles are more fine and less explosive. They are persistent and add a really pleasant texture. The width of the glass encourages mild aeration and allows fresh fruit to blossom.

I was a late to the game in getting my hands on Fontaine Glassware. Now that I have a set, I’m buying more! While I don’t know much about measurements and optimal space, I know how the glasses make me feel and that is like royalty. They are luxurious, thin, and balance perfectly.
I was really amazed that they arrived in pristine condition. There is a lot of real estate between Bryan’s place and ours!
Thank you for bringing them to MC @BryanGreen !
