I would consider Amalfi over Ravello just because it is a hassle to get up and down from Ravello to the coast (can be an hr and a half depending on traffic). But, Ravello is stunning. We stayed at the Belmond Caruso which raised the bar for how incredible a hotel could be for me, but was quite expensive. I think my parents stayed at the Villa Piedemonte which was a fraction of the cost and similar views.
Capri is also lovely and the Caesar Augustus in Anacapri was wonderful. The must-visit restaurant on the Amalfi coast is Da Adolfo. You need a reservation and only accessible by boat. You can hop on their launch that departs regularly from Positano.
Da Adolfo seems awesome! Looks like it’s open from 10-1 (last seating) but no return until 4. If you eat at 1 but want to leave earlier is it quick to get a water taxi back?
