Just received this email from Flatiron. Great to see their success, I wonder if they’ll have the same caliber of tasting events as their NYC storefront.
Dear Friends of Flatiron Wines:
We are very excited to confirm the rumors: Flatiron Wines is opening in San Francisco! Here are some quick FAQs:
Why? Because we love San Francisco, we love nearby wine country (as you know from these newsletters), and our General Manager, Beau Rapier, has decided to move to SF with his family.
Where? Downtown San Francisco, south of Market at 2 New Montgomery Street.
When? Construction started yesterday and we expect to open in the middle of January.
What does it mean for me? If you live in the Bay Area, you can finally shop with us in person. If you live anywhere in CA, your shipping costs will come down substantially! And we hope to use our toehold in the west to bring all kinds of great new wines to you all.
Very excited about this! Along with the relocation of K and L to fancy new digs (which I’ve not seen yet), it appears that the SF retail wine scene is getting a welcome reboot.
Hi everyone and thanks so much for all the support and kind words.
Yes we will be in the corner retail spot of the Palace Hotel on Jessie and New Montgomery.
It’s big space (about 3 times the size of Flatiron NYC) and I can’t wait to fill it with all the awesome wine.
I’ve been out west for about a week and I’m excited to join the Bay Area wine community.
Hope to see everyone at the opening party in a couple months.
Cheers!
I don’t know anything about Flatiron, other than being from NY. Happy to see another wine shop open up in NorCal, specifically SF. I read somewhere that they specialize in selling small-production, boutique wines. Is that a fair assessment? I buy a ton from K&L, so trying to figure out what these guys might offer that might be a little different.
