Flannery Fest III--Dallas, TX 11/07/2009--CANCELLED/POSTPONED

With another kick ass event behind us, I want to get the post out there for our next Flannery Fest. Having learned some lessons from FFI & FFII, I am going to set a strict limit on people and a real cut-off date for people to commit. Details to come as we work them out, but the gig is the same…will have here in Dallas sometime in early November to keep with the idea of an event every six months. No theme on wines yet.
**Having discussed this with the co-event planning chairman, I think we will take a different approach to this event:
\

  1. We will run with several “staged” wines…people can commit to bringing bubbles, whites, reds, stickies and/or Ports. They will be opened and served in natural progression to avoid the free-for-all aspect of the previous two events.
    \
  2. All wines need to be in Dallas prior to the event with SPECIFIC instructions on opening time as well as any decant.
    \
  3. I hate to be a hard liner on this, but it is necessary…no stragglers at the door. We will have a list and check people in at the door. This not only helps keep the crowd to the locked in number, but also allows us to know who is present and accounted for.
    \
  4. I would like to keep this a wine and food event vs. a big party. If possible only have wine savy people attend that will enjoy what is being poured.
    \
  5. Attendance will be limited to sixty people this time…and I am sticking to it.
    \
  6. Deposit for the event needs to be in my grubby little hands by AUGUST 1, 2009. With fewer people and a bigger plan for snacks as well as a reception wine, I am upping it $75 per person this time.**

I’m in, +1

I’m in! And god willing I’ll have a plus one by then! If not, I’ll just pay someone!

It would be great to have some winemakers show up, but just remember October is still harvest month. Supposed to be a bumper crop too. Just FYI.

Just man up and buy a bottle of '96 Krug or '99 DRC.

We can push into November is that is what the majority wants…just wanted to keep with every six months +/-.

Carey and I are in. No doubt.

Put me down and another vote for november

How could I miss it?

Bill - count me in. Plus 3!

Saturday was fantastic, great putting alot of names with faces. Great to finally have a chance to talk face to face with alot of people.

My buddy I brought was amazed, all he kept saying all night was “These people are serious about their meat and their wine!”

Great wines, great food. My buddy looked up Flannery on the net the next day and is getting an order ready right now!

Bill, you got he hooked like a heroin addict…I’m in.

Go ahead and put Cynthia and I down for 2, pending details of course.

Be kinda difficult seeing as how the Weber Ranch Kettle is at your house.

I’ll play (plus 1).

I’d also vote for November.

Bill Boy, how about doing it in my house in NY? I don’t have traventine floors but my backyard is much bigger. It would be perfect in october when you and Kristi come to town.

Bill,

Please add Christie and me to the list.

Thanks,
Scott

Difficult at best to get all the stuff we need up there from our home base down here…but you never know for FF IV.

I’m in. It was great. I guess I could say it still is GREAT as I’ve not left Dallas yet.

October in New Mexico. Time it to coincide with the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta. No need to bring anything from DFW as grills abound at my place. Gas, charcoal, smoker, patio, huge yard. Blah blah blah.

If the dates do fit I might committ.
