Flanagan Wine - Anyone have an opinion on it?

Hello,

I am new to this dance but couldn’t find anything on them. I’ve tried their 2007 Flanagan Syrah, Bennett Valley and thought it was phenomenal.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks,
Scott

I guess that answers that. I’m surprised NO one has tried it or anything? Even driven by it? [thumbs-up.gif]

Hi Scott,

I drive by it almost every day as Eric Flanagan is a friend and neighbor of mine in Bennett Valley. Knowing that caveat I will say the wines they are making at Flanagan Family wines are all first class. His Syrah is an excellent example of a Syrah from the Bennett Valley AVA. The primary plantings at his vineyard are Bordeaux varietals. His cabernet blend reminds me very much of a fine St Julien such as Leoville Las Cases in its structure and flavors. Phillipe Melka is his winemaker.

The winery facilty is spectacular with incredible views of Bennett Valley. Definitely worth making an appointment to visit if you are ever in the area.

Thank you for your response Jim. I’ve had a hard time finding anything about them and while I know I am new to wines, I really thought the Syrah was VERY tasty. I am very curious to see how it ages as I have two more bottles of it at home and will try them again in the future.

Thanks again.

Scott

Scott-

Type “Flanagan winery” into Google, and there seems to info on it there.

I thought (perhaps mistaken for someplace else) that this place is for sale?

It was at one point but Eric Flanagan decided to take it off the market and move forward fully committed to the his vineyard and wine making.
