We just returned from five nights in Amsterdam followed by five nights in Paris. Amsterdam was wonderful and we had a great time.
Hotel-We stayed at the Amsterdam Marriott and it was much better than I expected. It’s a 400 room hotel but felt like a much smaller boutique. Service and personal attention were excellent. The location was perfect for museums, shopping, and many sights. The included breakfast was everything one might want.
Music- We went to both Muziekgebouw and Concertgebouw for classical concerts. Both events and venues were great and we love the seats behind the orchestra at Concertgebouw.
Food- All dinners were excellent and service was impressive. Reservations were necessary at all places.
Blue Pepper- a modern take on rijstaffel that was really good
Ali Okacbasi- I read about this restaurant in the Istanbul thread and saw they had an Amsterdam location. We are going to Istanbul in July so we tried it. Food, service, and atmosphere were perfect.
Fiko-Great modern Italian near our hotel.
Midtown Grill-Steakhouse at our hotel that was highly rated on Tripadvisor. I don’t know if it deserved the #10 in Amsterdam ranking but everything was great. The grilled winter vegetables were beyond great.
Seafood Bar-Perfect pre-concert seafood dinner in a beautiful shopping area near Concertgebouw.
