It has been a long time since the days of really great wine deals at Costco, at least in my area. But my loving wife always, when she shops there, calls me to relay what wines are for sale on the high-end end-cap. So I get the call today and she says they have 2003 Dom Perignon for $145. I immediately said pass as you can find it for $125 and it is not a vintage to get excited about. She then says they have half bottles of sauternes, doing here best to pronounce d’Yquem. Half bottles I ask, what vintage and how much? Yeah, 2006, $98. She asked if I was still on the phone. What vintage and are you sure it is Yquem and the price is $98? Yep, 2006 and $98. I said take whatever they have; which turned out to be 6 bottles. She filled out the form and the Manager getting the bottles said that they were originally listed for $345 a bottle but never sold. They then lowered to $145 and sold one bottle. So they dropped it again today to $98. Lucky me!
Should have gone for an entire case.
Minus a bottle, of course.
Nice score! FWIW, last year (December 31) Garagiste had 2004 Dom for $113.
Wife reward due
I hope you treated her to a VERY LARGE container of Costco potato salad as a token of your appreciation…

Do they come in any other size?
She only accepts payment in shoes
Kirkland Signature stilettos?
2006 at $199 in my Costco today. I’m stalking it to see if it drops.
I bought five 2004 d’Yquem at the Fountain Valley (Orange County, CA) Costco maybe five years ago for $199/750ml. It does seem like one of the world greats that occasionally gets marked down steeply. Great find on the 2006.

Anyone find any Bouchard Montrachet at Costco???
I hate you
Wow. Did your friend know what a find those were?
My local Costco had the 1990 Yquem for a couple of years in a plastic case under the lights price was never dropped and was IIRC $325 or so
Costco at the district in Irvine had Evening Land Edna Valley Chardonnay for 14.99. I tried one this weekend and it’s very good in the “new” restrained style. Cheapest price on WS is about $24. Always looking for an everyday chard and this fit the bill nicely. I got the last bottles but check out other stores.
No wonder your collection has gotten so huge – you’re buying $15 chardonnay at Costco to drink instead of all those treasures sitting in your cellar!
Tami drinks chard like water!! Cellar protectors!
This sh*t is pretty good. Slightest little whiff of oak in a very good way, seashells, salty fruit. Me likey and looking for more.
Bottle open on Monday, put in fridge and was best today. As raja parr would say - that is balanced!!!
