Sensory evaluation… [rofl.gif]

At those prices, they’re more like Fire Fly-by-Night to me!!! [wink.gif]

Based purely on decoding their tasting notes, I would pass on these wines. Looking at their prices, makes it an easier pass.

From the descriptions of the vineyards, it appears that he makes his wine at Crushpad. Nothing wrong with that of course. I’m in a group that has made various wines there for 4 years now (not for retail, just us) and Crushpad does an incredible job. Dain, among others, makes great wine for retail sale with Crushpad. I checked the Crushpad vineyard list because I recognized a couple of the vineyards as ones we had selected in the past- Lone Oak and Split Rock. Firefly’s website has a section for vineyard notes that is simply a cut and paste from Crushpad’s notes on the vineyard. I also noticed that the Crushpad price per barrel translated to about $27/bottle (all inclusive of everything including bottling) and he is asking $85 per bottle! I don’t think Dain’s delicious pinots are anywhere near that price, are they?

At least I’m glad to know our $27 SLH Pinot Noir is someone else’s $85 pinot…at least until it hits WTSO! [wink.gif]
