- 2015 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (4/29/2024)
I know Fourrier is a producer that has much love on WB, and with my buddies - universally so, therefore, once I found out the '15 VV was drinking well young, I had to Coravin a bottle to enjoy with my Flannery short ribs.Floral aromatics, black tea, orange peel, moist earthy nose. Most often for me, the nose of Burgundy really sets it apart from other Pinot Noir - on this wine, it’s the texture. Texture is gorgeous - satiny with just the right amount of weight, it lies softly on your palate, keeping that gentle weight through the finish, lingering just enough. Beautiful concentration of fruit. Black/blue fruited really pops into the finish. I wouldn’t classify this as an elegant Burgundy, rather, a more muscular presentation with a build to the finish. Tremendously rewarding wine, a style I very much love.

Nice, sounds like this was showing really well. I’m not surprised that it’s muscular - more ‘15 than Fourrier IMHO.

Such lovely wines - glad you enjoyed it! Fourrier really reflects the vintage. 2017s are much more “elegant” in style, but that spicy Gevrey terroir will still come through.

Love this wine. Great descriptor. Muscular (like me) over elegance (though I’m that, too). This wine is 1/2 of me. But I digress…
