This. It’s the most consistent of anything either do. I’ve only had one botched delivery and that was because the package was damaged in transit.
You can make a claim online.
is there also a UPS equivalent?
Yep

On today’s episode of “Fedex, you suck”. I just had a shipment sent back to sender, because Fedex couldn’t deliver it to… Fedex.
I had a case of wine coming in, I redirected it to a Fedex ship center (the main local hub for Fedex). After 3 unsuccessful attempts due to “Business closed”, they returned it to sender.
Im gonna have a fun phone call tomorrow to their customer service.
When I pick a redirect, the app tells me the hours of operation of that site. Did it say it was open?
Yes its open daily until 8.30pm.
Some hubs have a customer counter. Some are just distribution hubs.
Ive had wine delivered here over 50 times. Needless to say. I know exactly how it works. This is just Fedex being completely dumb.
Redirecting to local store has been flawless for me for years. This month I have had two packages that have been delivered but continue to show as “out for delivery,” so eventually I have to go to a very busy FedEx hub and tell the poor counter guy, “I know it says the package isn’t delivered but I promise you it’s back there.”
I’ve had packages in my possession for days and get a text saying “you better pick it up or we’ll send it back”. I just ignore it and it goes away.
After 2 days thats what I suspected but nope, not there.
I regularly deliver to my local Fedex/Kinkos shop. I’ve had good service and my local shop staff all know me as “Steve the wine guy”. A case or two of wines shared wi/them at holidays helps spread the good cheer.
Over the years, I’ve had a couple experiences with cases shipped by regular Fedex Ground shipped seemed to be orbiting in purgatory-out daily for delivery, never actually delivered.
Twice this turned out to be due to case damage and broken bottles. I camped out at my shop once until the big truck from the ATL hub pulled up and unloaded. The manager and driver and I look in the back in the truck and sure enough, there was a lonely half-mashed case of wine in there, stained red and making clinking, broken glass sounds when you moved it.
The driver was well aware of it. He said, “Oh that box? They put it on my truck every day”. Apparently he did not want to be the one who got the blame for delivering a damaged package, especially if it had been damaged further up the shipping chain (ie: not by him).
I don’t know if this is a company policy, but it might help any of you out there with a box in limbo.
Nowadays I pay extra for 2-Day shipping and insurance where possible when the bottles are expensive (like a case worth $3k+). The extra cost is worth it to me.
Fedex is much more attentive to delivery and notification about the 2-Day parcels than the herd/avalanche of “Ground” boxes they have to move.
How exciting! My first major FedEx issue. I’ve had wine shipped by Winebid/GSN via FedEx to an excellent local mail center for years. On 12/3, a box was shipping to arrive on 12/5. On 12/5, it was listed as out for delivery. Then on 12/6. On 12/9, it was again listed as out for delivery. It’s status has not been updated since then. I’ve spoken to GSN twice and they have been very polite and contacted FedEx for me. FedEx blames high holiday volume. But it is listed as out for delivery day after day and they stop at this mail center everyday to pick up and drop off. After 30 days(!), FedEx will declare it lost. At least it is not warm out and GSN said that they will refund any damage or loss in full.
I had the same thing happen with UPS!
Fed Ex is the worst, except for UPS, which is the worst, except for Fed Ex which is the worst, except for UPS, which is the worst, except for Fed Ex which is the worst, except for UPS, which is the worst, except for Fed Ex which is the worst, except for UPS, which is the worst, except for Fed Ex which is the worst, except for UPS, which is the worst.
Interesting, this was a Winebid/GSN shipment as well and its in the same exact limbo.
And sometimes they’re are good.
And you know what they said? Well some of it was true!
So much of the problems are geographical.
