Thanks for including us in such good company. I subscribe to the very same ones.

Thanks for dropping by Jay. What’s the word on Brian?
GrapeRadio is my favorite, but I don’t listen regularly-- rather, we tend to save them up for long car trips. I’m looking forward to catching up with all the ones we’ve missed.
He is doing ok, but not out of the woods. The last 2 weeks have been brutal.
Latest update from Brian’s doctor as of 3-18-09.
B_rian continues to be stable (and even gradual improvement!)
He is still on a ventilator and the docs elected to keep in on it until they have ruled out causes of the continued fever that might require another surgery (i.e. didn’t want to take him off the vent, just to put him back on if they needed to perform another surgery or procedure.) Keep in mind that Brian is not in a coma; he is being sedated while on a ventilator. Family members and Brian’s nurse report that there is some purposeful movement when spoken to. This is also very promising.
A CT scan of his head, chest and abdomen was performed yesterday to find other possible causes of the low grade fever. Head is fine, abdomen shows no bleeding or post-op complications, and chest continues to show infiltrates to the lower lungs. This still goes back to the contusion/pneumonia issue. All in all, the CT scan is reassuring.
An Infectious Disease specialist is looking after Brian as well, surgeons are happy with how Brian is doing after surgery, ICU specialist remains upbeat and optimistic.
I too am more optimistic as to Brian’s recovery and progress. They will be probably weaning the ventilator this weekend. I will keep you all informed._
Thanks for the update Jay. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brian and his family.
