Favorite (non-psychedelic) mushrooms to eat?

+1 on all of this. Best cleaning method I’ve found so far is to tear them in half and float in a large bowl of water for 10 minutes, then rinse, drain, and dry. They don’t seem to absorb much water.

I diced the king oysters and mixed them in with shiitakes. Cooked them in cast iron with olive oil, butter, thyme and sliced garlic. The whole thing was really good but pretty sure I wouldn’t have missed the king oysters.

Have any of you tried to grow your own?

I have friends that are doing so. Someone locally sells you a bag to hang in a dark, cool area. They’ve been pleased. I can find out where they get theirs here in Chicago.

River Valley Ranch Mushrooms

I spoke with a guy from River Valley Ranch this morning. He said they grow as much as they can during the summer. They start selling the kits in October.

My wife ordered me a log for my birthday. I put it in an old fish tank in the basement near a window. It seems very happy.
