Favorite Kermit Lynch wines? Looking for buying recs

There are so many… One from Piedmont I recommend: Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino

Fortunately there are plenty of grey market importers like Crush where KL wines can be sourced for substantially less.

I was shocked when I was charged almost $70 for a bottle of Beaujolais from a KL retailer…

KL charges more wholesale for Foillard than the grey market end customer price

Also all the sought after allocated stuff like Coche is essentially priced at market value…

Benoit Cantin, Irancy wines - there are several cuvées and all are worth it.

You’ve gotten plenty of answers for the allocated/exceptionally sought-after stuff, and certainly if you can get those you should grab them. But in the more available side of things, I’d recommend:

Vignai da Duline - One of the best producers in Friuli, and certainly one of the most influential when it comes to farming. I’d personally steer towards the wines they make with autochthonous varieties, especially the Morus Alba/Negra, Schioppetino, and Friulano. Also, if you can get your hands on their giallo di tocai bottling, which is only produced in magnum, you should get as much as you can.

Michel Brégon - Does not get the love that he should in Muscadet, but Gorges is a world-class terroir and produces steely, long-lived wines. Not inexpensive, but truly great at the high end, especially. I think that these have often been a bit neglected by the KLWM sales team, and used to/often require a few years to come out of their shell, but are even bigger standouts in a global-warming environment that sees slightly warmer terroirs soften a bit to much for my taste.

Domaine Hauvette - Really inspiring, energetic and composed wines from Provence. Across the board they are really beautiful, often surprisingly complex. It’s hard to make wines that are a bit quiet from such a warm climate, and they do a lovely job without sacrificing Provençal character.

Bandol - yes, not a producer, but the trio that KLWM brings in (Tempier, Gros Noré, Terrebrune) all are excellent in their own ways. I’d probably buy cooler years over particular producers based on my preferences, but YMMV.

I also think the wines Punta Crena makes are really distinctive and cool, and Manni Nössing makes some really delicious, thought-provoking wines. There are also tons of great wines I didn’t mention (and plenty of producers that I think are “fine” but who make one or two really exceptional wines, eg: Dom. du Fontsainte’s Clos Du Centurion).

Clos Sainte Magdeleine -

Their Cassis Blanc has long been one of my favorite selections in his catalog.

It’s so easy to buy Foillard from france through ideal wine, I honestly don’t bother looking for it stateside any more. Ideal wine currently has Mags direct from the domain for $60 and 750s for $30. it’s roughly $120 a case (6 mags or 12 bottles) to ship via FedEx air in styro to the US.

Edit: obviously this is pending 200% tariffs … :man_facepalming:

Also the Punta Crena Pigato, yummm!!

I just picked up a bottle today at Kermit’s shop due to the 66% off sale*!

*66% off if 200% tariffs imposed…

maybe I should be making a Berkley road trip this weekend…66% off sale?!

If prices are raised 200% due to tariffs then current prices would be 66% less. At least that is how my arithmetically challenged mind sees it.

Porro for Barolo but there are so many good producers in the portfolio that I reckon you better have a look and see what you like.

What?!?! You don’t think Coche, Raveneau, or Gonon VV are on the discount list?

How do you know that is their source? If so, that’s interesting.

They tell you the source in the listing description. They get a surprising amount of semi culty wines straight from the producer. I’ve seen Lafon, Coche, PYCM and Hubert Lamy, but they sell out pretty fast if they are rarer bottlings.

As predicted, most of the super high end producers, (other than Jamet!), were not available to me. But I took your suggestions and put together a case of great stuff (Fantino, Terrebrune, Bernard Baudry, Faury, Guillemot, Magdeleine, etc). Can’t wait to dig in- thanks for all your help!
