Yes I thought long and hard about Lagier Meredith as the choice for Veeder. I am a Cab guy first and foremost and Sage is a vineyard I use to trespass on many times until it was bought by Darioush several years back. The vineyard is laid out incredibly well, by the vineyard team that planted Peter Michael in Knights Valley, so its always been a dreamy place for me. My favorite vineyard choices are for varietal. If PEOPLE were part of the equasion then LM would be top 3 among all vineyards.

What about Happy Canyon? Or Ballard Canyon? Or Alisos Canyon while you’re at it? :upside_down_face::roll_eyes::joy::grinning:

Always been a fan of the merlots that have come out of Las Amigas vineyard and yes, I know Myriad is doing one now.

Also been of fan of Mondavi M-Bar Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon for too many years to mention. Thomas Rivers Brown is making one now that I am equally excited to try.

For Pinot Noir it most certainly is Bien Nacido and my buddy Ed Kurtzman makes an awesome one in his Sandler lineup.

Funny, I recall being at Pagani 20 years ago when St. Francis was making a Zin from there and hearing them say they don’t have deer fencing around the vineyard to protect it because there is enough fruit for the deer and the winemakers who want it.

A year later, I ran across this video. Love Hardy and the wines he makes from Evangelho.

Hi Roy, just wondering why you prefer this vineyard (Sage) vs say Mayacamas, also wonder your thoughts on Aerika new project on Veeder. Thanks

I’ve regretted not coming to the same conclusion a few decades earlier.

Nice list, Roy,

Thanks–and I picked up your later suggestions as well.

Dick Grace was a legend. The first ‘cult cabernet’, made in an old school style, originally by Charlie Wagner at Caymus. I tasted the first vintage, 1978, and immediately joined the snail mail mailing list.
