Fastest Growing Wine Market? Not China.....

Some really interesting statics here. Have a look at the report put together by Morgan Stanley:

That’s interesting. I think that the average chineese person does not consume wine, they drink either beer or hard liquor (saw almost no wine when I was in Shanghai or Beijing). While the China market is potentially huge because of the sheer number of people the penetration into that market is still pretty tiny.

Lies, damned lies and…

OK. Growth rate is 10% in Russia, but:

  • a 3% growth rate in China is a much more massive phenomenon with far greater implications
  • the Russian population continues to decrease (Demographics of Russia - Wikipedia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
  • what is true one year can totally change the next…

Please, I’m not trying to burst your bubble. It’s just that I’m sceptical by nature.

Best regards,
Alex R.

It all makes sense. Russians are not new to wine. What kind of wine, is a different question.

Statics? Isn’t this about dynamics? [snort.gif]

That is looking back at the last decade. Still, I was surprised to see Russia at the top.
Since '08 China is tops in growth.
