Is there a website or more info on this event? It sounds like a good charity event and some good wineries. But, like a couple other posters posted what are the specifics? I live in the OC and would be interested.
Here are the details for the Best Western.

When you call, reserve the room using the group rate code “Falltacular”. Make sure they quote the rate of $79 per night. I have rooms set aside for both Friday and Saturday. We will get this $79 rate with 10+ rooms for Saturday. We can also get the same $79 rate for Friday with 8+ rooms. The rooms will be held for this group rate until 12/23/09 (with a little grace period if needed). After that date the rooms will be released to the general public. There is no penalty for canceling the room other than the standard cancelation policy.
Feel free to contact me if there are any questions regarding this.
Folks, let me get out ahead of a key point and remind the community that while I appreciate and feel honored that you all continue to attend this event, we have a finite space in my house. I want to reinforce that I am going to hold to a “+1” maximum for each person that wants to attend, meaning that I will only accept a check from anyone that is for a maximum of 2 slots. The objective in this approach is to ensure that as many people get in that want to attend.
And, bear in mind also that I have a commitment to the ABC folks in Santa Ana that I know everyone that attends the event. This deselects people from crashing the event or strangers coming into the event who we don’t know, as well as the ABC rules that govern this as a private party.
I’m not trying to piss on any of the fun here or be dictocrat but I do want to manage this event tighly, given the ABC’s rules and the fact that I have yet to convince my wife to buy a bigger house.
Finally, I am working against the desire to create a web site for just the event, as the whole thing about Falltacular was to keep it real, keep it offline and raise money. Therefore, I know there are questions out there. After I get through some stuff at work over the next couple weeks, I promise to develop a short FAQ that I can post a link to my home Cox account so that common stuff can get answered, like how will the silent auction work, where do I send the wine, how do we pay, etc.
Falltacular is mainly me and some cool friends who pitch in–bear with me.
Even better, you can throw Whetstone’s tollhouse cookies at him. BTW, I am requesting now to Whetstone that he make the cookies fully organic next time. I still throw out the challenge that I will pay for and deliver all the organic ingredients if he will accept the challenge.
Hey Frenchenstein, I will certainly let Terence pour and volunteer but we will be sure to separate your stations so that you don’t cause a frigging food fight. you guys pick who pours upstairs!
Organic cookies is no issue Frankie. I told you I was already halfway there. Sugar and flour are a bigger challenge as are the choco chips.
Frenchie’s organic bitching about not pouring though is a much more difficult. Tearing him away from waxing his “board” and stroking his “fiddle” long enough to think about pouring wine is something you might be up to though Frank. It is for a good cause so maybe we can appeal to his heart where ever it may be.
