Falltacular 2010--Saturday, January 23rd--FINAL DETAILS POSTED ON PAGE 4

For those of us who will be staying at the Best Western in SJC, I have put a request in for a group rate. I will post details when I hear of rates. For those who are new to the game, here is the run down at the BW;
affordable and clean rooms [thumbs-up.gif]
FREE shuttle to and from Falltacular (and possibly Fratellos) [welldone.gif]
Rec room w/ “AA” 12 step poster in place for photo ops and ample seating for after party. [winner.gif]

Book’em Dano! [berserker.gif]

I’m just getting started here and have no idea what this is but sounds like fun and a great way to meet a lot of Berserkers at one time. Count 2 of us in for Fri. & Sat.

Make that a trifecta: Fratellos, Falltacular and FRANKIE!!!

Here is a very small peak at last years http://www.wineberserkers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=85

Jason

I am in for the 3Fs.

J

did someone say Learjet?

I just looked at those TN’s for some Black Kite Pinot feedback last week.

I’d be pretty keen to either jump aboard the Lear or chuck some surfboards in the rig along with some nice Pinot and make a roadie out of it…

No need to bring the sticks - I’ve got extra if you want to hit some waves!

Shit - now we are talking!

I need a bit of foam though, no chips for this guy. Something in the 6’4’-6’6’ range, 2 1/2 x 19+ would suffice.

This might need to happen.

I don’t have any short boards, only longboards…but can easily get any shortboard you need from my neighbors.

I’ve got a tri-fin Becker 9’6" available for you if you want to do some longboarding with me. It’s a sporty ride - a real hoot for a longboard.

Funky quads, single fins, etc - doesn’t really matter. I am a bad longboarder but I suppose I can hold my own if need be. Totally appreciate the offer - I might take you up on it!

Come January, it would be nice to don a 3/2 for some warmer water and escape the death bowls of Ocean Beach, SF. Add in some vino and this could be a nice trip.

The Becker is an ornery, jittery, and fun board - it’s the closest to a shortboard you’ll find on a longboard…don’t sink those edges or you are going in…

Ok gang, just talked to the Best Western in SJC for a group rate and here are the deatils.
Base rate for the weekend is $109 per night. If I can gaurentee 8 rooms, she will drop the rate to $89 per night. If we can get 10 rooms, the rate will go to $77 per night.
She has worked with Laura’s House before in setting up rooms and wants to help out the cause. Don’t forget about the FREE shuttle to and from the events. That in itself could be worth $12-15,000. hitsfan
I will wait for the official annoucement before getting back with her, but what is the thought in pursuing this group rate??? Is there enough interest out there to get 10 rooms?

Nice work Mike! [thumbs-up.gif]
I would think we could get ten no problem but this early might be difficult. I would think we could make a drive to get ten once Frank asks for checks for confirmations.

Guys, we are moving forward with the event. While I want to wait a bit longer so I can gather a more complete winery list, I have roughly 20 wineries committed to this point and no one should be disappointed with the right-on winery folks who have signed on again.

The real “final” nod comes when we get the event license but I can tell you that we won’t have that from the State of CA alc people until no sooner than late December, as they won’t look at our app before 30 days prior.

Lock in Best Western and then see if they want any non-refrundable commitments. Maybe I oughta get a bigger house so we can the event AND accomodations for all so that there is no event commute.

On the checks and asking for them, I will wait for later in the year, as once you send them, all they do is sit in a secure place until the day of the event. I will likely ask for checks closer to December.

I realize I got this info out well ahead of the event date but since I had the ability to offer everyone a date, I wanted to get that out there so folks could plan. I know it is early.

Mike, nice work. I have to check with others but we are interested in 1 room for sure and probably 2.

Ok, I zip from the 210 - 57 - 5 for this event. Anyone along that route interested in getting a limo for the day? I figure we can make a few stops along the way.

Also, I can offer accommodations at Casa Leslie if you are more remote but the possibility of a limo sounds intriguing to you.

Count down to the official “get your check in the mail and counted.” Can’t wait! grouphug

Good morning. Now that we have done most of the winery contacts and while we likely add a few more as we head towards January, below represents the list of wineries who have committed their support to Falltacular. We don’t yet have the wine list as to which wines will be in the event but I am shooting for 100-125 different selections as a target, with the high end being more likely.

I do want to thank the list of wineries below for their support and what will be yet again a diverse and excellent tier of quality wines for Falltacular.

In addition, I have also begun working with Laura’s House on expanding for this year the silent auction portion of the event. I would like for all of you to think about helping me to raise additional funds through wine donations by you to the silent auction. One bottle, two bottles–whatever you would like to do. This is of course voluntary and you are more than welcome to make your paid donation and attend the event, even bid in the silent auction. I just want to take a run at gathering more items for the auction, through the wide and varied cellars that are part of our wine community. More info to follow on the auction in a later post.

Once again, thanks to all of you for helping us help the Laura’s House shelter.

Fantastic list, as always, Frank!!!

I’ll look to put something in the silent auction, too

Add McPrice Myers and Ampelos to the mix now, too. Over the next several weeks, we may get a few more wineries jump in and I will update the thread.

Thank you Mac and Peter.
