"F.U."

F.U., a new Shiraz by Chris Ringland. Just landed in the store. 99pts RP, comes in a stylized bottle, Ed Hardy-esque screenprint, and sells for 2 benjamins. Anyone had it?
F.U., just in time for the holidays. blush

Charlie?

Veronica,
was it RP or JM that rated it? We haven’t seen 99 pointers from that region moving much these days, no matter what the price point or who reviews it. Ringland must lay awake nights to come up with some of the names of his wines

Carrie, I am not sure who rated it… but man, these names. We also carry the B*tch. It’s making our Australian section NSFW.

Us too along with the Pure Evil, last year for the holidays someone called and wanted two of each and asked that we put them in a gift box so the bottles read “Pure Evil Bitch” when the box was opened … It was for her mother. YIKES !
Since RP not longer does Aussie, I would assume it’s that other guy [oops.gif]

I believe Jeb Singleton has backed up the truck on this wine.

I tasted the wine. In fact, my glass was poured from the same sample bottle that Miller scored it 99 points from.

It was 2 days old and I did not care for it. I also told Dan Philips that I didnot care for the name and would never sell it.

I don’t believe many consumers will want to spend that kind of $$$ on a wine with a name like that. You can have my allocation [wink.gif]

I may buy one bottle to donate for the next drive just so Jeb has the opportunity to enjoy one ! [tease.gif]

Carrie

The NY wholesaler had a lot of trouble selling their small allocation.

After 6 months in stock, there was still many cases to be had.

Here too. Plenty to be had for anyone that’s intersted, it will be another that will end up on inventory
reduction .

Click on “Buy Naked”. How they got this stuff past ATF is a mystery.

Missionary and Penetration Cabernet
Hucking Good Cab
Etc.

Say what?

With respect Daniel, why are you making purchase decisions on wine from 2-day old bottles? Even if properly gassed I’ve had wines that I otherwise would assume to be indestructible (i.e. most young Shiraz) fall apart precipitously.

i backed up the truck for namesake

IIRC… it’s Felix Unger. [tease.gif]

According to Dan Philips of the Grateful Palate (importer), here’s how the name F.U. came to be: “The story of F.U. begins with a meeting between me and Chris Ringland and Adrian Hoffmann. It was more than a bit of a thrill for me to be in the room with possibly the greatest grower and the greatest winemaker in Australia and to propose we form a partnership and that both didn’t say, ‘Eff You!’ That was to come later”.

Anyhow, what began as a single wine project eventually became four, as individual barrels began showing slightly different expressions - the Longitude, the F.U., ‘The Wine’, and the Evil Incarnate. > The Longitude will retail at $1000 - the bottle alone costs $100> .

Should have named it “The Balls”.

No wonder Dan Phillips doesn’t post here. [stirthepothal.gif] [tease.gif]

Nick

Good question.

Dan brought it to us. I did not seek it out. It was before it was released and the score was public.

For $300, it was an easy pass, unless it was mindblowing, which it certainly was not.

Is F.U. supposed to be a goof on the potential buyers?
Yellow Tail is a pissed Kangaroo, but at LEAST that makes sense.

Anyone have additional info on this?

If the first sentence is true, let me just add: No, FU!! or See you on WTSO

As Fergie sings,

I’m so three thousand and eight. Overpriced, syrupy, woody, vanilla boysenberry shake, vanillan-laden, high scorin, bad tastin, drought induced, saline infused shiraz is so 2000 and late.

I thought it was very good with incredible concentration. Not my style of a wine, but I certainly liked this more than some of those wines i.e. Integrity or Mollydooker. It is way over priced IMO though.
