I’ve been cellaring beer for over two decades and have many extreme rarities, particularly bottle-conditioned and Belgian or Belgian-style stuff. Is there anyone else who has this sort of thing in the NYC to Philadelphia corridor who would like to get together and drink some bottles?
oh … I wish!
Dave, what exactly do you define as “extreme”? Here in Westchester there are a couple of groups that meet for bottle shares every month or so. A lot of rare/special/limited/aged stuff gets opened.
A few of the attendees come up from the city all the time. If you’re ever interested in joining, send me a PM.
I have a little stuff like this, including a westy from 1997. I usually am looking wine when I go philly but if I want beer I know who to contact
By “extreme” I mean, prototypes, beers or ales no longer in production, products of closed breweries, and bottles with substantial age, or a combination thereof.
Philadelphia has a very well developed beer culture, and there are only a handful of people around here who have this sort of thing. Westchester is a little far for me, but NYC is an easy train trip.
Got it. Sorry, thought you were based in NYC.
Hi Dave,
After reading this thread, I really think you best bet is to come to southern California. Probably your only option at this stage.
We’ll set something up for you.
Cheers,
Jason
I think this is going to be pretty hard to come by, unless you find someone who’s been a hardcore beer geek who has also been cellaring beers for at least 10 years. Feel free to hit me up in about 5 years, if you’re ever in SoCal!
Dave,
Let me know if you make it down to DC. I too have been collecting for 15-20 years and have lots of things that I’d like to open but never find the right reason. And they are starting to take up too much space.
