I love foie, but those gross! And who in the hell would bread and fry it? [barf.gif]

Yep, we really are living in another Gilded Age.

And for dessert you get a deep fried Hostess Twinkie, gratis? Yuck!

It’s gross to me…but isn’t that the whole Joe Beef “shtick”: over the top richness/ “excess”…

In their “defense”, they were probably trying for “excess”…

I’ve never been, but have seen Bourdain and , I think, Zimmern…visiting them and touring Montreal and Q C with the two owners…they epitomize excess…with their buddy, Martin Picard of Pied de Cochon.

the foie gras double down is an amazing dish–I split a 1/2 order at Joe Beef with my wife, who doesn’t care a lot for foie, yet she raved. It is a takeoff on KFC Double Down, started as something fun, but is so delicious and popular that it’s remained on the menu. It is “breaded” in crushed potato chips, has applewood smoked bacon and Sriracha aoili. Absolutely delicious in small quantities. Excess on occasion can be fun. I wouldn’t wake up to it every day for breakfast, but now and then . . .

As for that burger, 95 Petrus is $1900-3000 on wine-searcher, so I am sure that is just a tease to try and sell a bottle of wine for the typical double/triple retail with an insane burger thrown in. That burger looks good to me, but so did the foie.

So, a Petrus goes with the burger, while Joe Beef couldn’t add on a Chateau Yquem to go with the foie gras double down?
I’m not familiar with Joe Beef, other than it definitely is not in California, but am curious as to how much an order of the FG DD is?

Joe Beef is in Montreal. Don’t remember the price of the 1/2 order (that was enouGh for two), but not crazy. On the next night, we had the foie gras poutine at Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal.
