Envoyer/Garigiste Olive oil offers

Anybody try these 2 olive oils ? The Paolo Bea from Envoyer and the Le Ragnaie from Garagiste.

Just finishing my 2nd bottle of Le Ragnaie and it is one of the best oils ever for me, sad to see the last bottle drained. On the other hand after reading reviews from Envoyer on the Paolo Bea was quite excited to try. Opened tonight and what a let down, no comparison. Just very bland and no distinct anything. After opening decided to do taste test with Ragnaie and it got clobbered.

I have loved the EVOO from garagiste and have bought just about every one offered for last 2 years. Anybody know where to get the Le Ragnaie?

I follow the Garagiste oil offers but have only pulled the trigger on wine purchases from them.

I do buy olive oil online.

For my daily use, I buy Yellingbo

For special use, I buy Villa Pillo’s oil from Gambassi Terme in Tuscany. Owned by the same guy who owns Williams Seylem wine and Millbrook, Villa Pillo is a very old winery that was in the same family for hundreds of yrs till Mussolini killed them off in '44. They make great new style tuscan wines. Their Borgoforte got over a 90 from the spectator and is available for under $15 in the states.

Olio Extra Vergine d’Oliva:
Villa Pillo olive Oil comes from different varieties of olive plants like Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino, old and classical traditional tuscan plants.
The oil is cold pressed and left unfiltered to maximize the delicate flavor of ripe olives.
It captures the delicacy and fine fruity quality of Tuscan Olive Oil

I bought 2 liters of oil this yr from the 2010 harvest. Cloudy, amazingly spicy and peppery, I loves this oil for drizzling on finished plates. With shipping it was less than 20 bucks a bottle.

well that’s disappointing! I bought one from envoyer … haven’t picked it up yet tho.

I’m not a big fan of Bea’s oil. Gampiero’s wines are way better. However, if want to try a great evoo from a wine maker I highly suggest the Occhipinti EVOO. In a word, tremendous. I’m not sure, what’s better, Arianna’s Nero di Avola or her EVOO.

Thanks for the tips. Does Envoyer offer EVOO very often as this was the first non wine item I have seen from them. Have been on their site for about 3 months.

Life is too short to use crappy olive oil!

first time to my knowledge.

Okay after a little research, you have picqued my interest and I need to find this olive oil. Already ordered some of her wines. Do you have any idea where to get her evoo?

domaine547 had some.

I’m guessing y’all probably don’t buy much wine from olive oil producers?

I’m reluctant to mention it since many of the oils are already very allocated but all the oils I get from The Rare Wine Co. are truly superb.

That is amazing that it is that cheap even after shipping half way around world. I ordered 2 today and will report back.

Thanks

NOTE: BUSINESS POST
Tom, let me know what you are looking for in the way of Le Ragnaie olive oil. We are the importers of it (along with Riccardo’s Brunello’s). We can sell the Oil direct but must go through proper channels on the wine.

We liked Paolo Bea’s olive oil. We brought home a bottle when we visitied and tried with offered bread at the winery in Montefalco. It’s a typical Umbrian style o-o, imho. More green in color and less ripe in flavor than, say, southern Italian or even most Spanish ones. Love it plain with bread and salads. I don’t know if I’m describing correctly but it’s like a cool-climate type of oilive oil.
