Electric Knives?

I am having two different events at my house over the next couple of months where we are serving Tri-Tip for about 50 people each night. A friend recommended that I buy an electric knife to make the carving easier. I’ve always been kind of a purist with knives, but since I’ll be slicing about 15 tri-tip in a relatively short period of time, I’m now wondering whether it might be worth it. Anyone have any experience?

Works for me!!

But you can cut alot of beef with good knife…

Both of those suggestions are very good. Except you can get the same Victorinox Forschner Fibrox Hollow Edge Slicing Knife here for $6 cheaper:

Bumping this thread…

Traveled to spend Rosh Hashana with family and marveled at how my sister in law’s brisket was sliced perfectly with an electric knife. Hers was a very old model and before I just order something random on Amazon, I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation? Is there a noticeable difference between the lower priced standard models and the higher end ones? Intended use is infrequent/holidays.

Thanks!

I don’t have a recommendation, but Alton Brown has long advocated using an electric knife when carving turkey, roasts, brisket, etc.

I ordered a Cuisinart model from Amazon (it was highly rated). Tried it on skirt steak over the weekend and it was great.
