Egly Rose base 2017

A very uninspiring bottle from Egly-Ouriet. Two g/l dosage, 48 months on the lees, disgorged July 2022. Lacking in fruit, not much acidity, no depth or length, sort of simple with nothing much there. Could be an off bottle but I don’t think so. Just an average 2017 champagne. C’est la vie.

Wouldn’t this be 2016 base?

Think 2023 is 2017 base. Posted the below in another thread:

Anyone taste the July ‘23 disgorgement Egly rose? Considering a couple bottles. 2017 base. Only review I can find is concerning:

Very pale coral, the Grand Cru Rose NV is a barrel fermented rosé d’assemblage based on the 2017 vintage and composed of 70% Pinot Noir of which 5% is still, and 30% Chardonnay. Redolent of ripe stone fruit, red currant, yuzu peel, honey and a faint minty note, the medium-bodied palate is hints of apricot, citrus oil and toast with softened acidity and a bitter tannic note on the finish. Disgorged July 2023, it is an Extra Brut style finished with two grams per liter dosage. Textural impressions should bear in mind that the bottle tasted at the winery was not freshly opened. - Sarah Mayo, Wine Independent

Can’t see how it would be, if the back label clearly says “Assemblage base vendange 2017”.

Ouch! Thanks for the cautionary note. One of my favourite Roses in the past, but I have not had a recent disgorgement.

and price has jumped also. Better go check my recent acquisitions . . .

I suspect below-threshold TCA.
