Eating and Drinking in Rome, Florence, and Tuscany

We’ll be in Italy in late June/early July for two weeks, splitting time between Rome (2 nights), Siena (5), Florence (3), and a few other towns in the region (somewhere on Elba, possibly Modena if we get reservations at Osteria Francescana).

I’m looking for recommendations on restaurants, wine bars, wine shops, etc. Looking for a mix of fine dining and casual spots. The wine list is equally important as quality of the food and a plus if leaning natural.

An if anyone has attended the Palio (July 2nd) in Siena, would appreciate some first hand information on how crazy this really gets

Uhh… You have no idea.

I’ll post some places in Siena but you can eat anywhere.

For Rome and Florence, best bet is to call up the extensive recent threads on those two cities.

There are threads here on Rome that contend there are great restaurant there. My Rome experiences predate berserkers, but I struggled to find anything but ordinary tourist restaurants, and worse. But there is always gelato. I could live on gelato lol.

In Florence, Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina is a MUST
