Adding to Kato and Damian which both came to mind is Baroo and Yess
I would do Baroo or Kato.

For simple ease, you could walk across the street to Astrid. Itās very good, not great and itās in the Disney Center complex. Personally, I would hit baby bistro in Chinatown (outskirts). Chef Miles is a legend already and this is his new place.
FYI, Oriel closed.
Ugh. Was always bustling every time I was there.
I just looked at the Damian menu for the first time - are those entrees for 2? All between $60 and $100 seemsā¦a lot.
everything is family style
Thanks. So not really a spot for solo dining.
Unless they changed the menu recently I donāt remember it as being all family style. A few of the larges dishes like the duck are very big but there are lots of smaller options.

yah but even if small plates, they are meant to be shared (like every other restaurant in LA)
I was more reacting to the solo dining question which I think you could easily do at Damian. And knowing Sarah if she did an extra hour of weights she could still order the duck and save some for breakfast or her plane ride home

This is a fabulous idea!
I also vote Kato. The food is great and it deserves its Michelin star, but itās a very inviting and comfortable environment with warm servers. Itās not the most casual, but itās very far from a stuffy, fancy/formal restaurant, at least in terms of the environment.
Had lunch at Matsumoto,.first time in the new location. It was strong, solid B+/A- which for me is all good. Relaxed and calm, good interaction with chef, quality fish, restrained garnishes, good variety, and not crazy expensive. Plus it is open on Mondays! I will definitely go back.
Cheers Berserkers - thanks for the great advice for Holbox and RVR. I wrote up some highlights of what I ate in LA on my blog. Check it out!

Also I met Berserker Adam Frisch in person at the Beachwood Cafe - it was fun to talk wine sales strategies with him.
Berserkers in the wild!
Love that you had the two Stein wines!
Been incredibly busy, but finally got around to Rasarumah.
Very solid and nice BTG options. Pork jowl skewer and their house specialty Beef Cheek Rendang were unanimously the favorite choices.
Shim Sham for drinks after was a perfect move.
Darn, Gregg, I was liking the idea of simply walking across the street to Astrid, but it appears theyāre temporarily closed.
In the Conrad, San Laurel is a Jose Andres restaurant. Canāt get closer than that.
My brother is looking for a recommendation. Iāve never been to LA but he is staying in West Hollywood. Figured it would be easier to ask then try and sift through the entirety of this thread. All cuisines on the table. Wine is not that important. Nice cocktail menu would be better. He only has one night for a dinner so he wants to have a good one.
Also looking for a great lunch spot in West Hollywood as well.
Sure, itās always easier for other people to do the work than for you to do the work, LOL.
