Easter wine trivia

Having a hard time deciding on an Easter wine?

I went with a varietal wine whose name contains the word “easter” in it. D’uh!

WHAT did I choose???

(There may be more than one answer, but mine is a grape, not a producer or region. And I didn’t use all of the letters.)

EDIT: The letters within the variety name can be arranged to spell Easter. Sorry for any confusion.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Oh geez. I didn’t even think about that one. (Though not what I chose.)
I figured that there had to be other possible answers.
Nice job Kris.

Feteasca Regala

Dan Kravitz

Petite Sirah

Petite sirah?

I hesitated while seeing how often it is spelled with a second e, and I got leapfrogged.

Could be Riesling Kabinett, but I think that is too specific.

I hesitated on Petit Sirah also, but it seems to be spelled both ways almost equally.

Blauer Portugieser?

Real guess: Crozes-Hermitage

Gotta have 2 'e’s?

Dan Kravitz

Sauternes?

HA! Awesome. I love the answers! I will now be better prepared for next year’s Easter dinner. Multiple wines for sure.
Feteasca Regala? Ummm…I will be looking this one up. Thanks Dan.

Petite Sirah (2014 Switchback Ridge)

Cheers!

I didn’t really think it could be Tresallier.

spatburgunder would have worked.

Edit, not if you need two Es

Was my first instinct until I read the non-region preface, and something I pop often on Easter for some odd reason. Then I got busy. Cab Sauv was my working grape prior. Now see it was Petite Sirah. That’s my go-to for the characteristics I like in Napa Cabs at often half the price grape.

Don’t worry. Since it’s Spätburgunder, not Spatburgunder, it would’ve made it Eäster anyway.

Well done.
