Easter wine line-ups?

Last one down

And it was amazing - so pure, velvet Vosne spice, still power but also softness and complexity. BYO at nice restaurant HÞfde4 in BlÄvand.

We’re planning on rack of lamb and scalloped potatoes this evening, following an afternoon of nibbling on charcuterie. We have family in town, so we’ll probably have cocktails at some point (Paper Planes, I think) and a few botttles spread out over the day.

Probably a Tercero Outlier and some JosĂ© Ardinat Champagne ƒil de Perdrix champagne for the afternoon, and then we’ll decide what sounds best with dinner out of the reds I have on hand
maybe pinot, maybe something a bit heftier and more to the preference of the crowd.

Wowa dream set :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

At my daughter’s house. Went a bit lighter: crab cake eggs Benedict with fresh cut asparagus from my garden and Stags Leap Karia Chardonnay. Then crùme brulee and a 2003 Chateau Yquem.

We had a 2000 PLL with our ham last night. The wine was in a great spot and the fruit seemed to improve after 3 hours of air, but still a little green for my tastes.

Also at my daughter’s house.

Both 2014 and 2016 Cabot sparklers
2021 Goodfellow Berserkers Cuvee Chardonnay

All were :fire:

Didn’t even realize it was Easter when we planned a lunch with friends for 4/20 as none of us celebrate. We drank well.

Ohhh how was that 2008 Cotat? 2008 Mont-Damnés must be right in the zone!!

Sadly, it was not our best bottle. There was a lactic element, something I loathe in white wine, that spoiled it for me, though orhers didn’t perceive it or care. I was disappointed as the last couple of bottles have been fantastic and it should have been rockstar with goat cheese in particular.

Updated Easter Sunday dinner at a local Italian in Makati/Manila where 4 wine drinkers gathered (5th attendee abstained from drinking alcoholic beverage).

2021 Jean Paul Balland Sancerre
Rich and robust sauvignon blanc. Mineral, citrus and pear. Accessible but I’ll hide my remaining bottle for 5 years.

2009 G Conterno Barbera d’Alba Cascina Francia
Not as brutally over the top as when it was young. As old school a Barbera can be. Get some pizza!

2007 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia
Saved the best for our last. High level of wine craftsmanship. Serious structure, impeccable balance and power. Great now and in the next 25 years.
