East Bay Area - New Burgundy-Focused Group - Great China Berkeley

We are gathering interest in a new Burgundy (+ Champagne) group to meet monthly-ish at Great China in Berkeley. James is super kind and depending on headcount, day/time preference can work with us on corkage, etc. He also has the best wine list in the East Bay to add a bottle into the mix. Ideal platform would be a theme, BYOB, and going a bit more mid-tier price point, learning new producers, revisiting favorites. Definitely won’t be a $2500/bottle group. (In this economy?!)
Please DM or reply here if interested. @SusieG this is what I’d texted you about, sorry for the delay!

Hi @erinmcgrath, not sure my work travel schedule will allow frequent participation, but definitely would be interested in a B & C tasting group. Have done in the past similar private tasting parties for clients in the East Bay. Keep us posted on the first meet!

Please add me to the list. Given where I live, it would be tough to make weeknights, but I’d rather be kept in the loop than not.

I’m interested in joining! I’m in San Rafael, but Berkeley isn’t all that far, and Great China is awesome

Could you please add me to the list as well? I live in the south bay but would be able to attend during the weeknights.

Thanks all! I have started the list along with some Reddit r/wine folks who replied. Keep an eye here for a poll on dates that work for everyone. @Larry_Stein Might see what GC has available for Sundays too.

Very interested. In SF but willing to travel for great duck & Burgundy. Agreed with Larry - weeknights are challenging for me, but would love to share some bottles.

Very interested. Please keep me on a list / the list. SusieG and I and a handful of others are trying to start a regular group as Oakland Wine Club. Not quite so region focused. The discussion thread I think can be found with “Oakland Wine Club.” Not to distract from what you’re doing which sounds great. bp

Hi all! I sent an email to the Reddit folks today - if you can either DM me your email address, or let me know here in this thread by @ mentioning - December looks tough for most people so it is possible our kick off will be January. If enough folks can make a casual December meet, great! Please provide your preference. TYSM!

@erinmcgrath definitely interested in a January event!

Hey all, I’m much deeper into champagne than Burgundy but would be excited to contribute all the same.

@erinmcgrath Thanks for sparking interest in this group. I am possibly available in December, but not Saturdays 6 & 13. Def avail in Jan. (wineguymja@sbcglobal.net)

I definitely want to cycle in a few Champagne focuses. I just sent the follow up email - January won the poll. I’ll circle back via email to all after Thanksgiving.

Just sent an email to the group to confirm - can you DM me if you are still confirmed? Also, posted a note on the SS that it’s 1 bottle per person - Burg OR Champagne - kinda winging it with theme to get things kicked off.

Hi @erinmcgrath! Late to the party and just seeing this, but would definitely be interested in future events like this. Burgundy, Champagne, and Great China sounds amazing.
