Drops of God

I literally clapped / cheered / showed my wife when this wine was featured. Then I went to my cellar to grab one to celebrate, but I either drank it or buried too well.

I wonder if Tegan got much of a bump in list / waiting list after this episode?

Watched Ep 1 last night.
Interested to see where it goes.

I finished it yesterday. I thought it was, for the most part well done and got most of the wine side correct. What I thought it did best was showing how wine can/should evoke a time and place. Nothing was overdone and it was wrapped up nicely.

Nothing was overdone? Not even blind tasting skills? :joy:

To be fair to the show creators, anime/manga generally take creative liberties when it comes to deriving material from real life skills. Popular animes about volleyball, sports, and even cooking have to really amp things up to make it entertaining. For being a live-action rendition, this was dialed back and packaged into mainstream content (for good reason).

It would have been better if Issei tasted wearing a DC Comics costume and Camille in a Marvel outfit. And, if either one of them put on a pair of glasses, nobody would know who they were.

I smelled a 2017 lynch bages today

What did you see?

The first tasting he smelled the wine for .5 seconds and called it correct on the vintage and producer. No chance lol.

Ok other than that which I forgot about since it was the first episode. But the other antics, if you will, I take it with a grain of salt since they were in a anime style.

So it seems the show took liberty which is fine as it’s done to appeal to a different set of audience. There was a Japanese TV series based on the same comic book series, Kami no Shizuku about 14+ years ago: Kami no Shizuku (TV series) - Wikipedia

As I haven’t watched the series I don’t want to reserve judgment, but the comic books moved very, very slowly.

Really? I smelled a corked two buck chuck! :stuck_out_tongue:

Just finished the series, loved it. They did a terrific job with the adaptation - most of the changes were for the better. I was only disappointed that they abandoned the motif of Shizuku’s magic decanting skills.

Just started the show. The one thing that pissed me off early in the first episode is that the footage of her arriving at the jet shows one with 3 engines, and the stock footage of the airplane flying had 2.

Haven’t gotten to much of the wine yet though his cellar at the house seemed a bit light on “recognizable” bottles.

If that is the level of fact checking you will keep up for the rest of the episodes…. Remember this is based off a manga

The manga was surprisingly accurate.

Prolly didn’t have to rely on much stock footage

I’m a ton of fun to watch TV with!

As the child of a lawyer and a teacher I can’t help it.

It is a very decent show. Don’t really care about a few slightly silly wine details that noone else than WBs will think/care about

I was watching Sponge Bob one time. It’s about a sentient synthetic sponge with arms and legs who wears clothes and lives in a pineapple under the sea. He and his neighbor, Squidward, work at a fast food place owned by a crab who sells patties made of crab. Anyway, there was this one time when there was a fire that flared up on the grill that Sponge Bob uses to cook those crab patties there in Bikini Bottom at the bottom of the sea… That idiot Sponge Bob picked up a bucket of water and tossed it at the fire on the grill. EVERYBODY knows you don’t use water to put out a grease fire. Ruined the whole show.

I hope the terrible engine gaff doesn’t kill Drops of God for you the way that water bucket utterly destroyed the believability of Sponge Bob for me.
