Where? Yeah it’s a tiny town on the West Coast of Ireland… and had one of the better meals of my life there last month.
The Homestead Cottage in Doolin (https://www.homesteadcottagedoolin.com/)—They seat about 25, and got a Michelin star all of 3 months after they opened, the first place this guy has been a head chef (!!!). I thought it likely exceeded 1 star in quality… we were really impressed. His wife is the sommelier, she’s French with an all French service staff. We did the wine pairings and she showed a lot of creativity-- small Loire producers, an orange wine from Georgia (country, not the state), a Lebanese offering, really the flat note was the Bordeaux of all things, and it wasn’t bad-- otherwise great pairings.
Hard to get a reservation, reserve early. Combine it with a trip to the Aran Islands and Irish music in one of its pubs for a short stay there. Great time.
