I’ve now tried 3 different donuts from them and thrown out 3 half eaten donuts. Before I swear them off completely is there anything I should try to convince me that it isn’t just an overrated waste of calories?
Is this different from The Donut Plant?
Anyway, if it’s the same one, then I haven’t tried any myself. But your experiences are consistent with those from others that I know who tried their donuts. They all gagged at the unreasonable flavor combination and obscene level of sugar.
Jay,
If you mean the Donut Plant (baked on Grand Street), then I agree with you. I hate yeasty donuts. Maybe it’s a NY or LA thing, but I prefer cake type donuts.
+1 not a fan and don’t get the hype.
I don’t eat a lot of donuts, and haven’t tried Donut Factory, but there used to be a dive of a donut shop on the SE corner of 86th Street and Lexington that had the best French Crullers, as well as other donuts. They were moister and less cakey than other places. Unfortunately, the place got torn down six years ago to make way for a condo.
I miss that place, not to mention the Jewish deli that was on 84th st.
What Jewish deli on 84th? Do you mean Pastrami Queen, which used to be on Lexington between 85th-86th that also closed due to that building going up?
I guess I was off by a block. Call me pisha.
That’s the same Pastrami Queen which moved to Manhattan from Queens. I still remember Jeff Grossman and his brother lamenting that years and years ago
And yes, I meant the Donut Plant. My bad.
The donuts from my local farmer’s market which have been sitting out all day are still far, far better than anything I’ve had at Donut Plant. Yet they’re always packed. Glad to see I’m not the only one.
