Dom prices

Sooo, Moved to jersey where there are no costcos that sell wine (around my area). Best price locally is 179… I look on winesearcher and the best I am seeing is 160 before shipping…

Is the sub $150 days gone? Is it time to stock up at the 175 range?

What other champagne staples are on the raise?

ya the lowest I’ve seen is 180 on Dom 12

Did not see any at Costco today in Northern California. K&L just added some in stock for $219.99. Too much for me to pull the trigger right now.

Costco in Edison, NJ has wine

Joe Canal, between Trenton and Princeton, $194.

The real question is which are not? the sheer quantity of Dom Perignon has kept the inflation a bit slower than many others, especially those where the 2008 vintage restated prices higher, either intentionally (e.g. Taittinger CDC, Salon) or had this imposed upon them by the market (e.g. Selosse).

I wonder how much what Taitinger did with the 2008 Comtes pricing has to do with inflated Dom pricing.

Used a coupon code and got 2 bottles shipped to me from Zachys for $138 each for 2010.

yeah, pricing really going up. Woodland Hills had 08 Taittinger for $125 and the next price was $180 and beyond. Nothing like that $125 price. And Dom 12 at $180 is about the best. Haven’t seen the $150 level and doubt we will. Grand marque champagne has made the next price leap.

in new york, 2010 and 2012 wholesale is $159/pb with no breaks. so i think sub $200 dom days are over soon.

Dom has always been a special occasion wine for me, but I think now with prices typically $50 more per bottle I’ll end up consuming more 1er cru champagnes annually and just do Dom maybe once a year or if there is a special restaurant event.

The one in Novato?

I agree the price increase has been rapid, but likely overdue. Champagne was way behind the Burg inflation for years. CdC certainly served as a catapult to reset the market, but honestly what isn’t up 30-50% in the past couple of years? Inflation across the board is here to stay for quite a while I believe.

I’ve had some pretty disappointing mid level burgundies recently. Right now cru Beaujolais is winning my heart even if they were priced the same as mid level burgs.

I’d much rather pay $190 for 2012 than $150 for the 2010.

Been all over town today, plenty of 2010 for 180 and under but not a drop of 2012 for under 250

Yeah, no surprise, really. Can also look at designer brands, whisky, cars, houses, index funds, etc. Everything up.

First thought was Japanese whisky… prices are through the roof.

Wow, right y’all are!

178 bucks at Costco today.

It had been around 130-140 for ages.
