now seeing 2009 offers for $170, price reductions on 2006 also. Will there be a 2008 and when?
There will be a 2008, it’ll just be released after the 2009. I’m not sure when.
The 2006 is available in my market for $119.
Hope it shows up here for that, I’d be very happy with another six pack of the 2006 at that price. Especially after backfilling the 1996 and 2000 over the weekend, for a lot more.
Expect strong pricing for the much anticipated release of 2008 DP.
Richard Geoffroy has been extolling it since 2010.
For those that have had 06 v 09, which is your preference & why? TIA.
Haven’t had the 09 Dom but have had both the 06 and 09 Cristal. I found the 2009 to be more upfront and flamboyant at least at this time.

The 06 DP is a nice wine and a success for the vintage. It has a lot of richness and texture. The 09 DP is all about brightness, and juicy fruit in a package that is easy to enjoy now, but also well structured and with plenty of aging and improvement potential. I find the 09 to be the better wine and the best DP since the 96.
To Ray’s comment on Richard Geoffroy being big on the 2008 - he definitely is and was, but over time has started to favor the 2009 over the 2008. When the 08 comes out in a year or two, it should be a lot of fun to have them side by side.

He was first talking about this in the 2009-2012 timeframe. This has nothing to do with hyping the vintage. 2008 and 2009 are both very good vintages that are very different. You knew 2008 had potential to be something special right from the start. 2009 has surprised in how well it has developed.
