I’ve long heard that Costco managers are authorized to negotiate on items in general. If an item is running low, they can and sometimes will lower the price if asked, to clear inventory.
In this case, I bought a bottle of wine at a Costco, priced at $19.97, which I liked. Went looking for more at a different Costco (same region). Found it, priced at $29.95! Same wine, no question.
This surprise me, as I assumed that an equivalent item would be priced exactly the same at all stores in a given area. Anyway, wondering if there is any point trying to “talk them down“ in such cases? I can substantiate that the price was lower at the other store.

X.97 is a closeout at Costco … that’s why it’s lower. I suppose you could ask them to price match the other Costco, but alcohol laws can be weird — they may not be allowed to do that legally.

Might be that the Costco that had the higher price was just behind on updating their signage? I can see individual stores having the ability to mark-down perishables for quick sales. Maybe they can do this for items that aren’t selling in that store? It would have been interesting to see what the bottle rang up for as my guess is all prices are updated company/region wide every day.
Wines with death star (*) on tag are marked down at the store level not corporately.
I don’t think bartering there is an option.
