Does anyone drink Sauvignon Blanc anymore?

Ditto. Boulay is lovely. Also like the Bevan dry stack version. Nice new world take. I even dug the cloudy texture of the wine. He should have named it Cloudy Wine.

Sauvignon Blanc is flying these days. You can look at the Nielsen Supermarket Scan Surveys and it is the only wine that is up in sales. You can’t find the grape out there if you are looking to buy some (a tad bit of an exaggeration, but if you can it is outpricing Chardonnay in some areas). The hottest grape variety on the North Coast? For wineries, sauvignon blanc is the in-demand fruit

For me it’s been 100% Sancerre for a while now but due to the recs in my recent Vienna thread (have been planning to write a short report but struggling to find time for that) I got to try there a Tement single vineyard SB from Steiermark that has stayed in a stone vessel on the lees for 42 months and it was just bonkers. An expression I didn’t know existed - completely ethereal with lots of iodine and an endless finish. Can’t wait to spend more time with this wine in the future.

I do continue to drink and enjoy a range of SB. This one, from a month ago, will be in my WOTY list.

"2018 Francois Cotat Sancerre Les Culs de Beaujeu

Someday, maybe, I’ll keep my paws off of one of these to actually age it. But it’s so hard. 'cause they’re so good. The first sniff, some unusual-for-him tropical top notes show up along with sweet lime. Those carry into the taste with an almost-creamy mouthfeel. Ah…but after about 3 degrees of chilling, amazing transformation—the lime and some fresh slate really take hold and it shows beautiful, clean and clear texture. Maybe some peach blossoms to round things off. This was awfully good and paired with a bunch of stuff. Honestly, maybe one of the best Cotats, from either branch of the family, I’ve ever had."

I got my first taste of Tement a little over a month ago. Yum and totally agree with you.

Seems like SB can be a minefield - so many variations. I like a rounder, slightly tropical showing (but still balanced and fresh) - and chilled a bit (summer wine for us). I’ve stuck with Bedrock Judge for the last six years or so. Cheers!

I’ve been on a Tement surge lately after discovering them a couple of years ago. Unique stuff to be sure.

I’ve always been able to get decent Cotat pricing although things crept up a bit in 2019 and 2020. I’m partial over Boulay. But I don’t buy that much.

Dissonance is an annual must buy. The Semillon makes it.

Absolutely. Eisele sauv blanc is top notch! JP sauv blanc is nice as well

As often as I can find one that I like. I’m sticking to southern Austria & the Loire most of the time. My wife drinks about a case of Matua every other month (not a wine that interests me). You??

Shhhh. My new favorite producer.

Totally forgot about Eisele, their SB is definitely top of the heap

I am a big Desparada fan…love the comparison of SBs from different vessels.

In fact, Boulay and Cotat are priced similarly in my market and I still prefer Boulay. Pretty much the only SB I drink.

We’ve enjoyed Accendo the last few months.

Same for me, at least there is no meaningful difference in price between Boulay and Cotats.

We enjoyed a delicious, cold SB from the Brasswood label last night. Angelina Mondavi made a beautiful wine, and I don’t drink much SB.

Malk Family winery (napa) makes a pretty good sav blanc that doesn’t really drink like one from Napa. It’s definitely one of my favorites.

This. Accendo SB is damn good.
