I’ve ordered ~200 bottles from them since 2011. Only had one problem on a mis shipped order that was resolved to my satisfaction. Their pricing can be very good but s/h costs on the high side.
They have great pricing for non gray market goods. This is where I buy Skurnik’s wines, mostly German Rieslings. Their web price is different then their store price so I rarely go to store. (they do free deliver in Westchester county.)
Tiny store front (with much higher prices), and a seemingly enormous online selection with excellent prices. Makes me wonder if they possess in hand all of the wine listed on their website, or if the website shows what their distributors have (like some online outfits do)?
Either way, I’ve bought from them 2 or 3 times and was a happy customer.
solid reputable shop.
not sure of shipping costs because I pick up in store.
and fwiw, they will give you the online price of any wine if one happens to stumble in and shop.
I shop there a lot as it’s an easy drive from my house. They have indeed abandoned the policy of charging different prices in-store v. online. Still, the store itself is not that impressive (compared with, say, Zachy’s) but the prices are rock bottom low. I tend to buy ~6 cases at a time and then drive to pick them up. 30-45 minute round trip, totally worth it.
Not sure, I’ve found it to be a common practice around here, though. The difference can be substantial. Which is why I try to always buy online and then pick up, the savings can be tremendous.
I had a couple of excellent transactions there as well on some nicely-priced Glantenay Volnay 1ers, good folks to work with. Is $18 to ship three bottles ground (east coast) expensive? Maybe a little but not terribly i.e. I’ve occasionally paid more than that to ship one when I really wanted something.
