These folks sure believe that. Anyone know anything about the publication?
I don’t know the answer to this but I do know what the fallout would be if the question was asked about men!
i do like “Block Rockin’ Beats”.
Maybe because there are so few, but a number of them have stood out over the years from Zelma Long to Kathleen Inman. I often found more finesse and less in-your-face from the wines.
Interesting question. I have wondered whether women have more sensitive taste buds.
I’ve had some comparative tastings recently that included a 2012 Bevan Tin Box vs. a 2012 Venge Bone Ash. The boys liked the Venge better and the girls liked the Bevan better. The Venge is a bigger wine and I suspect that part of the boys’ preference had to do with the fact that we are in our late 60s and that some of our taste buds have died off.
Same thing happened two weeks ago when I served a 2013 World’s End If Six Was Nine against a 2012 Venge Silencieux. The girls liked the World’s End better and the boys liked the Venge better. Again the Venge was a bigger wine.
So, it may just be that men like bigger wines than women.
… bites tongue, resists urge, closes thread…
We wouldn’t want to mention HPB or HT.
“Women taste better” - Patty Green
Stop it. You’re going to force me to post something I’ll be censured for.
There was an article awhile back that talked (excuse my vague memory) about how enrollment in the enology program at UC Davis was pretty much even, but the percentage of female grads who went on to become winemakers was shockingly small compared to the men. Don’t know what all the factors behind that are.
I know several excellent women winemakers. Wouldn’t say they are better or worse that the best male winemakers I know. What I don’t see is a lot of women in the “good enough” school. There are countless men who happily put out endless mediocrity.
My thought exactly. Drawing conclusions from small sample sizes selected to prove a point is always dangerous. Love my Paradigm and loved my now gone mid 90s Pahlmeyers.
Lots of great female and male winemakers. So no.
