Diving into the red bugundy pool Am I nuts ? Caution: long and maybe boring

I am always skeptical of these types of blind tasting results without knowing all the producers and wines involved, but I certainly am more impressed with results involving 12-15 year old wines than I am with 3-5 year old wines. Also means more to me if food is involved.

I thought maybe you inherited money or won the lottery. Many premier crus have doubled in price in not a very long span of time. I love Burgundy and regret not getting in earlier than I did. At some point though I have to say “No Mas!”

I am totally with Howard. I am always skeptical of comparative tasting events and its results.

All things - related wine tasting events - need to clearly identity the main question : what is the purpose ? As there are way too, too many variable to have a clear answer…

For example, if the purpose is to find out : the different style of the producers ( and to find out who is your preferred producers ).

I suggest the following :

One needs all the bottles of wine from same AOC and same vintage year and but different producers.

To have any meaningful results, one need to repeat this same exercise over the course of the life time of all the wines…for example, when they were released at age 4, at age 5 and at age 6. Burgundy normally close-down at age 7 and 8.

Then repeat the same execise at age 9, age 10 and age 11…and so on.

or better yet, “pas plus!”

The list of Chambolles looks appreciably stronger on paper, so not surprised by the result. May try to do something similar, but got a few tastings to get through first.

Indeed. no truer words sir carne asada…been there too…for I am still haunted by a $25 beautifully elegant simple village givry.
